Charlecote Manor - Outside 4/7

So to my first of two views of the East Front of the house. Charlecote Manor, the earliest of the great Elizabethan houses, was rebuilt by Sir Thomas Lucy in 1558 on the site, it is said, of an earlier building. It is of the typical Elizabethan plan, a half-H with the wings extending to the east.

The maintenance team would need to include one chimney sweep, Brian...although, I suppose, the topiarist could do that job on weekends...
Brian Walbey: I guess the days of fires in the fireplaces are long gone now Ray, but plenty to keep the gardeners busy as you will see later in the series.

Beautiful landscape taken at the perfect angle. I love the hedges smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frances, there is a lot of hedge to keep tidy.

I like the leading lines in this photo. Deep saturation also attractive. Very sharp!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bonnie, I managed to get this angle without any other people whatsoever and it came out just as planned.
A very extensive estate isn't it!
Brian Walbey: The house is just one small part as you will see Elizabeth.

a very well cared of estate -and a fine photo of tghis East Front! Oh, I like the Elzabethan chimneys!
Brian Walbey: Yes the NT.really make a good job of looking after Charlecote. Those chimneys are great aren't they.
You were lucky to get it free of people Brian
Brian Walbey: I took the house front pictures fairly early on before too many people were around.
very good POV
Brian Walbey: It came out just as I planned Chantal.

The use of brick can often be charming
Brian Walbey: It certainly makes this house look splendid.

This is highly pleasing architecture Brian. Soft, warm, inviting and friendly.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Chad.

Yes, I think this would suit me nicely, too - I would need staff, though and an army of gardeners.
Brian Walbey: And me also Alan, with staff etc., etc.

"an army of gardeners"? Oh no, according to my experience about 2 gardeners and eventually some volounteers will look after the garden of this size.
Brian Walbey: At the time of our visit there was two young ladies tending the lovely flower garden on the other side of the house, overlooking the river, but I guess there would be a few more with all the gardens and grounds this place has.
This one's my favourite so far... especially with the blue sky.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Jacquelyn, we were really lucky with the weather that day.

I wonder what the building this replaced looked like, Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes I guess there won't be any paintings or drawings of it in existence.
Superb angle Brian! And the place is so well looked after.
Brian Walbey: I think they must have put the bushes in to make good foregrounds for photographers Richard smile
That is very tasteful and grand
Brian Walbey: Sadly it looks less grand once all the other visitors decided to move in to this garden.
