Charlecote Manor - Outside 1/7

We visited Charlecote Manor, a National Trust property in the edge of the Cotswolds, during May last year and this is an introductory image giving you the opportunity to join me in walking across the parkland towards the very fine entrance building, before you see quite a lot of images of Charlecote spread over four separate series.

The word "verdant" come to mind, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed it does Ray, which it was at that time last year.

It might have made a good "verdant valley" shot if you had lay on your belly in the path and shot from ground level, heh!
Brian Walbey: Trouble is Maureen would have had to help me back up again, my bones are getting old!!
This walk seems a very pleasant one! Thanks for taking us along!
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a nice parkland path just off the main drive, away from all the other tourists who stick to the tarmacked drive.

The beginning of a walking tour then, Brian?
Brian Walbey: Indeed Lisl, both outside and inside the house, and church, over the next four weeks.

The grass path leads us to the fine house past those trees in protective cages
Brian Walbey: Indeed Chris, although the building in the background isn't actually the main house.

I always fine a lot of appeal with mown paths like this, Brian. Let the other grasses grow wild!
Brian Walbey: And it was so much more pleasant than walking down the main tarmacked drive with the rest of the visitors. BTW this place is only about 10 minutes from where we all met up in Stratford.
What a beautiful place Brian, I shall enjoy this series.
Brian Walbey: I hope you do sally, it is a fine house inside and there are some lovely views on the outside.

a nice, grassy, soft (going like on a carpet) path to the entrance of this manor house I don't know!
Brian Walbey: It was more pleasant to walk along this path than on the main drive with all the other visitors Philine.
One of our local NT houses Brian, so I shall be interested to see your take on it.
Brian Walbey: I guess you will probably have been to Charlecote Bill, this is a four week series in all which includes the church in week 4.

So your leading us the garden path
Brian Walbey: Something like that vintage, hope you stay with it and enjoy the visit as much as Maureen and I did in actuality.

I love these mown tracks that flow through longer grass. Charlecote was a wonderful visit for us as well Brian.
Brian Walbey: Yes so much more civilised than a tarmac drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there and stayed for a few nights in Shearings Charlecote Pheasant hotel almost opposite the main gate to the parkland.

Lovely curved sweep towards that elegant house Brian. I do like the metal tree protectors too.
Brian Walbey: Yes so much nicer than the tarmac drive Chad, and yes, there was also that delightful fenceage.

The garden path gives a good lead in with just a little of the house being visible. Did you discover the garden path lined with tea trollies?
Brian Walbey: Didn't find the tea trolleys Alan and that actually isn't the main house visible in the trees as you will discover tomorrow.

Fine shot and on my door step. Not been there for some time so will be interesting to see what you make of it.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mike. I thought you would be familiar with Charlecote.

Wonderful green path to follow. Love this shot and in the back ground the Manor.
Brian Walbey: Yes isn't it a nice thing to walk along. The Gatehouse is in the background, the house is behind that.
A beautiful perspective to start with Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.
I like your 'lead in' shot Brian, very welcoming smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin.
I like the trimmed walkway!
Brian Walbey: Yes much nicer than walking down a tarmac drive.
I like mown paths through longer grass.

I think a simple path mown through long grass is rather beautiful
