Swanage - A Glimpse 1/7

Those of you Brits.familiar with the South coast might well have visited the delightful seaside resort of Swanage. We first went there for our honeymoon in 1971 and took a liking to it even though it is very quiet and reserved compared with some seaside resorts. This was taken last September from the hill above the harbour area looking across the bay towards the Purbeck Hills behind the town.  We are away in the Yorkshire Dales for a few days, there should be wi-fi to use my new tablet with, but I will catch up with you all in full at the weekend.

Stylish benches for the Olds to lounge in while taking a glimpse...it is ready for you when you return in 15 years or so, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Bearing in mind I enter my 70th.year very shortly I do hope that we do return to this lovely little resort at least one more time.
a peaceful view. those benches are inviting spots.
What a lovely shot! - I would prefer a quiet and reserved spot rather than a more boisterous seaside resort!
Brian Walbey: You would find this totally different to Blackpool, although it was winter when you were there wasn't it. In the summer Blackpool and Swanage are chalk and cheese as the saying goes.
This is much more than a glimpse Brian... you have captured the entire resorts... well framed....petersmile

Strange, Brian - my parents spent their honeymoon here, too
Brian Walbey: The only thing wrong with our honeymoon was that the hotel turned out to be just about the most unromantic place you could ever want to stay!

I'm sure the resident swans are still there to welcome you, Brian?!

Enjoy you time in Yorkshire Dales.
Brian Walbey: I do hope we go back at least once more before we get too old, it is quite a long journey from us considering Maureen does all the driving these days. We did enjoy the Dales, wonderful countryside and I finally got to Fountains Abbey, following in Philine's footsteps of a couple of weeks before.

Looks like little has changes since the 1960s!
Brian Walbey: And to be honest Mike I think, for people of my age, that's what makes it so attractive.
nice greens
Hope you are having a fine time away. This is a pretty place you are showing us today.
Brian Walbey: WE really love Swanage Mary, I suspect you would like it too. We had a great time away this week, beautiful countryside and interesting places to visit.
You could sit there on the bench with a pair of binoculars and be entertained by the beach action for most of the day. Looks like a lovely destination for honeymooners, Brian.
Brian Walbey: WE had a lovely honeymoon there 42 years ago, sadly the hotel was most unromantic though.
A very nice place for a sit down Brian
A beautiful and peaceful view Brian! Enjoy your break.
A popular resort Brian. I think i have only ever been there about twice
Brian Walbey: You might well enjoy a couple of days there Bill, Chris goes there quite often I believe.
A delightful shot Brian and a delightful place! I have visited Swanage a few times and it's always been a pleasure smile
Brian Walbey: We have always enjoyed our visits there Martin, we are not people who like the "brash" sort of seaside resorts.

Brian Walbey: Just like Swanage Richard, and Southwold as well to be honest, peas in a pod.

Although I have been to Swanage many times, I've never been to this side! The fact that is is more reserved and quiet in comparison to other resorts is a major attraction to me. Enjoy the Dales!
Brian Walbey: It is a shame we don't live nearer to Swanage as it really is our sort of place, as is Southwold, which I believe you are going to enjoy with Mr.T.shortly, peas in a pod those two places.
I've never been to Swanage Brain, I'm looking forward to this ~ this is a fine start, it does indeed look delightful.
Brian Walbey: If you like "brash" resorts don't go to Swanage, if you don't you could do a lot worse.
