photoblog image Dishley Pool 1/2

Dishley Pool 1/2

Converted to monochrome in Lightroom 4 with a final edit in Photoshop CS3. (8/21)  Just North of Loughborough is a small lake covering about 8.7 acres called Dishley Pool. Now a wildlife site it is administered by the local Charnwood authorities and is used mainly for fishing and walking. This is the first of two postings in monochrome of the lake, a colour image of it can be found [ here] on my Flickr blog.

Small typo here, Brian...I think you might have intended to write

"...used mainly for fishing and walking on."

This, of course, does not detract at all from the niceness of the image.
Brian Walbey: There's only one person it is rumoured might have been able to walk on there Ray smile It is a very popular spot for short post lunch strolls being just outside the town.
It's a good monochrome image of the lake... i can see that it's inhabited by many waterfowl....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter. Yes a popular spot for waterfowl as they migrate during the winter.

Looks like a nice quiet area Brian
Brian Walbey: It is very nice, we only found out about it a short while ago, having lived here over 20 years.

The feel is so different in colour - hard to believe it is the same place, even though it is the same image
Brian Walbey: Actually I don't think this version really does the place justice, tomorrows is a bit better I think.

Nearly all mid-tone greys as well.
Brian Walbey: Yes Richard, although I think this doesn't do the place justice, I think tomorrows is better.
very well taken in B&W
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chantal, as you will have seen from the link is is a B.& W.conversion from the colour version.

what a different feel the mono treatment gives
Brian Walbey: Indeed Paul although I honestly think this doesn't work as well as the one I am posting tomorrow.

A still cool day I suspect Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed Chad, mid afternoon on a January day last year.
I liked the flickr view very much.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary, this doesn't come out all that well I think, tomorrows #2 shot is a bit better I feel.
Amazing how different the same scene looks in B&W, Brian. Looks like a lovely spot to photograph either way.
Brian Walbey: I agree Beverly. It is a nice spot, one we've only recently found out about after living here for many years.
Nicely composed view of the winter lake.
Brian Walbey: Thanks John.
I like this evocative b&W Brian...
Brian Walbey: Thanks Juan.
A lovely and quiet Winter scene Brian!
Brian Walbey: Indeed it was lovely and quiet that day Richard.
Looking serene but I do like the winter colours Brian
Brian Walbey: I think I prefer the colour version of this one to be honest.
Very nice shot in B&W, Brian! A peaceful looking spot to fish :
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin. I'm surprised my son, who is a very keen angler, hasn't been to this water yet.
Very serene image, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, it is a nice place to walk.
