Leggy Quartet

In Queens Park in Loughborough during the Olympics last year this display was set up in one of the flower beds to represent the towns links to sport and the Olympics via Loughborough University where many of G.B.’s.competitors were based. If you haven’t guessed already this is supposed to represent Synchronised Swimming, this certainly became a popular photo subject within the area.

Somewhat "Olympic"...
Extremely English!
Brian Walbey: And most unusual Ray, photos of these crop up all over the place locally.
I like your angle... it must be a little startling to come across the first time!
Brian Walbey: I must admit to finding this quite entertaining Elizabeth, I've always been a man who enjoys a shapely leg to be honest, a female one of course!
This sculpture is a bit strange at first glance Brian... but if you think of blue and white flowers as water bubbling... it all makes sense to me....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Yes it was a very popular photo subject Peter.

Brian Walbey: And ideal for lovers of shapely legs Chris.

I'm sure many a good joke has sprung from this, Brian!!! grin
Brian Walbey: No doubt Ginnie, and some good photos, they are, after all, quite shapely legs, and most men like those!!
I always thought there was something funny (and more) about women and synchronised swimming. Now the evidence is here in front of us ...and the rolling in mud whilst titillating with toes is an ingredient that only women could come up with.
Brian Walbey: But apparently some men find the sight of women rolling in mud quite exciting Richard, I'm not sure that quite rings my bell!

This gave me a smile and I think a lot of people make up stories while they look at this.
Swimming come in mind indeed, with the 'thingy' on the noose...
Brian Walbey: They were certainly laid put in a way to make good photos if one could find the right angle, on one side there is a big building in the background and they are lost against that.
strange art piece
Brian Walbey: But it turned out to be a fine photo subject locally Chantal, my narrative tells you all about why it was there.

This amuses me Brian, partly because I am soon to post something along these lines.
Brian Walbey: I await with bated breath to see what you have forthcoming Chad.
That's pretty funny. Thanks for sharing and bringing a smile.
Brian Walbey: Yes quite amusing, then over here that particular sport is always treated with a media attitude slightly less than serious.
Hahahaha delightfully daft artwork for the silliest sport ever dreamed up (so far)
Brian Walbey: It caused a lot of amusement locally Bill, and yes it is a bit of a silly sport, but I guess these legs are quite shapely, I was a bit of a legman in my youth!!
Thank you for the explanation Brian, I was quite confused! This must've attracted a lot of attention - nice shot smile
Brian Walbey: It did attract a lot of attention and lots of photos locally Martin.
I like it. The feet have it. Pretty picture
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet.
That's really good Brian, it's really representative of the sport.
Brian Walbey: Somebody had a bright idea didn't they.
A pretty funny picture Brian!
Brian Walbey: They are quite amusing aren't they, as is the sport to be honest.
Funny place, Loughborough smile
Brian Walbey: Good job I live outside Loughborough then Tom smile
Quite a bizarre and intriguing image Brian, regardless of the explanation!
Brian Walbey: Somebody had quite a good idea to cheer things up didn't they.
The Queens legs? Reminds me of a joke about a pub so named being always open.
Brian Walbey: That sounds a bit of a risqué sort of joke John!!
Synchronised suffocating. A good fun picture, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I often wonder how they manage to breathe, especially with those nose clips.
