Glamour Girl 1/2 - Lana

When I first joined my current camera club in 1989 it was to find that twice a year they hired a local studio, together with a “glamour” model for each evening. It is not an area of photography that particularly interests me but some years later, as Club Treasurer, I had to go along to deal with fees for the studio and model so I took my camera along and took some portrait style and “modest” shots, this being the first of two. I seem to recall Lana was a Russian girl who came to the U.K.to live.

Beautiful portrait Brian! Everything about it is right and for portraits not being your forte' you did a great job.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frances. It helped having a proper model who new what she was doing.
Isn't she lovely Brian and what a great portrait.
Brian Walbey: Yes she is Sally, thanks for your comment.
Lip gloss was even around in those days it seems.
Brian Walbey: Indeed it was Richard.
I have just joined a camera club and I hope the heck they don't do that.
Brian Walbey: I hope you enjoy being in a club Mary, one tip, learn what you can but don't take everything you hear from other members and Judges etc.as being the "Holy Grail" of photography, you do very well with your camerawork anyway. Re your club having "Glamour" sessions, I don't think many clubs do this sort of thing, mine packed up a few years later, newer members like me weren't that interested, nothing wrong with us as men but what on earth would we do with the pictures!
Mmm, yes,I believe you,Brian. smile I once went to a photo show that had models posing for photo's,one of the organisers told me that most of the guys taking shots, didn't even have film in their cameras! I made my excuses and left. smile Good portrait though,Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank. I did have film in my camera, but this girl had not much in the way of modesty to be honest and when the poses moved past this sort of thing I just thought I'd save my film for another time.
Proving yourself a dab hand in yet another field, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Only one of two occasions I've ever done glamour work to be honest Graeme, some of the guys used several films, I didn't even finish one to be honest.
Beautiful portrait indeed Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, that was what I intended.
Looks a bit weird, Brian - the mouth and eyes seem to be saying different things!
Brian Walbey: Your probably right there Tom, although I will admit she does have lovely eyes.
