HDR/Topaz Twiddles 4/5

LEICESTER BOUND

I was out by the national railway one morning last year waiting to see a steam-hauled excursion train come through my way and caught a shot of this 2-car service train on its way from Lincoln to Leicester.

The original of this was a bit “flat” so I made two copies at +2 and -2 exposure stops and then took those, together with the original, in to Dynamic-Photo HDR5 and produced a Tone-mapped version. I then took that in to Photoshop and after a few minor adjustments used Topaz Adjust 5.0 to complete the process and ended up with an image that is at least a bit more “lively” than the original.

Gosh, you are way ahead of me with your methods. This is a very crisp image
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginny. I'm not that good but I sat down one afternoon with all this different software and kept doing a bit in one and then moving the image on to another package and so on just for fun and to see what I got out of it.

Rather elaborate greenery on this toy train set-up, Brian.
Brian Walbey: A tad too much Topaz I think Ray.
The colors look wonderful!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth.
a very good composition
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chantal.
you have been twiddling away the the long winter evenings to good effect Brian
Brian Walbey: I done these quite a while ago just for fun and then thought, what the heck, you folks will either love them or loath them, most of you seem to be enjoying them.

From my Suffolk abode we have a delightful rural rail route that eventually gets me to London. The clickety clack sound of wheels on rails is rather evocative.
Brian Walbey: At least there are still a couple of routes still running through East Anglia, I would like the chance to ride them given time and opportunity.

A fine image of theway things are currently on the MML Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed Chris, this was just prior to Rood Ashton Hall charging through on an excursion on the far right hand track, which in Midland parlance I think is the Down Fast.

Love the play of lines here and the colourful train adds to the picture.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Astrid.
A fabulous shot Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Sally.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary.
Excellent shot!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Roland.
A great transformation from flat Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet.
Maybe take the saturation just a teeny bit, but otherwise this is great Brian.
Brian Walbey: I suspect a tad too much Topaz Fred.
Looks like a miniature train Brian! I like it.
Brian Walbey: I guess this does look a bit like a picture of a model railway.
The twiddle works well in this shot, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom.
Works well on this sort of subject, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Yes it does Graeme, this was quite a dull morning.
