Bure Valley Railway 1/4

The Bure Valley Railway is a 15 inch gauge line that runs for 9 miles between Aylsham and Wroxham in Norfolk. We called in to the railway for a very quick visit on the same day that we also paid a flying visit to Blickling Hall, the place I showed you a few weeks ago. It was strange therefore that the first locomotive we saw was also called Blickling Hall and is based on the Indian Railways ZB design. Built specifically for the railway by Winson Engineering and delivered at Easter 1994 it has since been fully rebuilt in 2004 with new drafting, cylinders, smoke deflectors and other modifications.

The loco is painted in Midland Railway Crimson Lake.

Gorgeous "toy", Brian.

I feel the need of a person in the shot so I can get a sense of scale....coming in the next few days?
Brian Walbey: More than a toy Ray, it is an eighteen mile round trip. You will get some idea of the scale tomorrow.

I have seen this railway from a distance a couple of times but never got up close Brian. It is charming: reminiscent of the RH&DR down in Kent
Brian Walbey: It is a lovely railway Chris but we fitted this in with another flying visit to Blickling Hall that I showed recently before visiting Maureen's very elderly relatives near Cromer.
What a delight Brian. I love these little railways
Brian Walbey: Yes it is, time didn't allow us to ride on it, another time perhaps.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Sally.

Brian Walbey: The classic angle for a train shot Chantal.
Beautiful shot Brian. There is synchronicity for you
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet.

Bure valley I think is a 15in gauge line? I'm sure that they have sent visiting engines to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch rauilway for a gala. I can recall the fun of trying to couple differing coupling arrangements together. I like the escaping steam here.
Brian Walbey: Yes it is 15in.gauge Alan.
Still looks the same from when i was there about three or so years ago. Fun times to be had on it.
Brian Walbey: Sadly we didn't have time to take a ride on it, we also fitted in a flying visit to Blickling before visiting Maureen's very elderly relatives near Cromer for the afternoon.
A fine looking locomotive Brian, good POV smile
Brian Walbey: Yes they have several such locos Martin, I am showing one of the others over the weekend.
A lovely little loco Brian!

That is a real delight Brian, almost a toy, an absolute gem.
Brian Walbey: Yes it is Chad, but not a toy, the railway provides a daily service on an 18 miles round trip.
