Elvaston Castle 6/10

Surrounding the country house are the famous Grade II Listed gardens, pioneered over a 20 year period back in the 1830/40s by William Barron, one of the most influential gardeners of the century, and to one side of the house is the garden which contains large amounts of shrubbery artfully cut into various shapes. Behind that is the estate church dedicated to St.Bartholemew.

Topiary gone crazy...that's impressive, Brian.

What's all that pink stuff you've put on the clouds?
Brian Walbey: Yes I wouldn't want to have to trim this lot. Sometime Topaz adds a slight touch of Magenta to clouds which in this case I haven't been able to completely remove.
It looks wonderful reaching up into the sky!!
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a fine church, a closer look tomorrow.
I like the way the tower is framed just above the trees in the garden Brian... they must employ a lot of people at work keeping all of these shrubs sculptured....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Being local authority owned I guess they will have quite a large workforce to look after a place like this.
strange green color
Brian Walbey: As it was Chantal, the dull conditions gave quite a strange light.

I'm with peter on this. I like the strong colours in the garden, too, in comparison with the foreboding sky.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. A closer look at the church tomorrow, it is after all "Church Sunday" smile

Beautiful light green Yews Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes the dull light somehow highlighted that particular shade of green.
Love the colour of the shrubbery.

Some vivid greens there Brian. Nice view of the tower

Nicely clipped golden yew by the looks of it.
Brian Walbey: It looks very tidy doesn't it.
So many different greens that all compliment each other perfectly.
Brian Walbey: Yes they look good altogether don,t they.
Very nice composition Brian. I like the mysterious light here!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard' it ws cloudy bright at the time.
