Calke Abbey Garden 2/7

You can see yesterdays image ingredients centre left in this wider angle shot of part of the walled garden.  Also you can see there are several more palm trees growing and the sculptured flower beds are replanted throughout each season of the year to give colourful displays most of the time.

Yes...it is a beautiful garden, Brian...and somehow enhanced by the fact that the old gardener is no longer capable of cutting a straight edge with his shovel.
Brian Walbey: Perhaps his shovel had a curved blade Ray. smile
There is such a burst of colour in this garden Brian... i like it....petersmile
Brian Walbey: And they change the planting through all the seasons Peter.
A wonderful variety of plants, I like how you've captured this!!
Brian Walbey: Yes there is Elizabeth, so different to where you are isn't it.

I like the colour scheme in this heart, Brian
Brian Walbey: They seem to keep it well planted all year so it changes quite a lot.

Nice colours and I like the sharp point of that near bed.
Brian Walbey: Yes it's quite a nice flower bed and the garden is laid out so there is a pattern of these round the place.

I like the heart-shaped flower beds -a really lovely garden!
Brian Walbey: It is a garden I know you would enjoy Philine, indeed I think you would enjoy the whole of the Calke Abbey House, church and garden.
I love it, loads of flowers
Brian Walbey: Yes there is and they seem to keep it well planted all the year round.

Lots of colour to keep you snapping Brian.
Brian Walbey: I never fail to take quite a few shots when i go to this garden, it is only a short drive from us to Calke.
I bought this lovely purple plant this year and love it's wonderful scent. It looks very nice en masse like this. Beautiful gardens!
Brian Walbey: They mix in and make a nice contrast against the white plants don't they.

It all looks very elegant and genteel. I see the pond from yesterday's shot.
Brian Walbey: Yes the whole garden is laid out like this Alan.

A well tended garden Brian.
Brian Walbey: The nT always seem to make a good job of the presentation of their gardens I always think John, they certainly do at Calke.
Do you know Brian, I can't remember any of these garden images so it's completely fresh and a delight for me.
Brian Walbey: That's nice to hear Richard, perhaps you should make another trip to Calke one day and refresh your memory.
A wonderful perspective with these beautiful colours Brian!
Brian Walbey: Yes all four corners of the garden were laid out in this pattern.
Must be quite sheltered for palm trees to thrive Brian
Brian Walbey: I guess the walls and odd buildings around do shade the garden from extremes of bad weather.
Looks rather exotic!
Brian Walbey: That's because of the Palm trees Tom, it is a lovely garden though.
Beautiful colour combinations in those beds Brian....a fine shot! smile
Brian Walbey: The colour is down to the gardeners, iI can't take the credit for that sadly.
