North Norfolk Railway 2/7

Our train has now travelled the 5 miles from Sheringham to Holt and the locomotive will be uncoupled and run round to the other end of the train for the return journey. This locomotive is one of the ex Great Eastern Holden designed B12 Class from 1911, and it was built in 1928. Subsequently it was rebuilt by Gresley to class B12/3, with a larger boiler, round topped firebox and long travel valves. This engine is now the only working inside cylinder 4-6-0 in Europe and was preserved by the M&GN society in 1963. The engine is currently in LNER apple green livery.

She is gorgeous, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed she is Ray, what I call a proper looking engine, but then I'm biased, I used to see a lot of these when I was a lad.
shiny machine!
Brian Walbey: She's had a lot of money spent on her being refurbished so she needs to be looked after.
She is a beautiful long... lean... green machine Brian... well captured....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter, lovely isn't she.

I was hoping it would be this locomotive Brian: it must look perfect running through the Norfolk countryside
Brian Walbey: It did look good Chris, and to be pulled by her as well. I didn't see this one when I was young but my Combined Edition tells me I saw a lot of the same class, probably when I was spotting at Cambridge, I wonder if Mr.Trim was there at the same time.
This is a fine looking engine Brian and your picture is excellent
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, lovely engine isn't she. I didn't see this one when I was young but my Combined Edition tells me I saw a lot of the same class, probably when I was spotting at Cambridge, I wonder if Mr.Trim was there at the same time.

Even the reflections are classy, Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes she is very well looked after, but she has to be, it's cost a lot of money to get her back in action.
A well turned out engine Brian.

Another fine evocation of past Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Fred, I guess I'm still a young lad at heart liking things such as this smile
Now that's what I call an engine ... not flamboyant ... just down to earth 'meat and two veg' so as to speak.
Brian Walbey: I agree with you Richard, I didn't see this one when I was young but my Combined Edition tells me I saw a lot of the same class, probably when I was spotting at Cambridge, I wonder if you were there at the same time.

Wonderful though these beasts are Brian, I would hate the task of cleaning them.
Brian Walbey: So would I Chad but considering how much has been spent on them it needs to be done I suppose.

Looks in pristine condition Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed she is Mike, I believe she recently came back from her second major rebuild since being returned to service.
That's an impressive looking locomotive, a fine shot Brian smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin, she's a lovely beast isn't she.

We must take our hats off to the people who keep these beautiful machine running.
Brian Walbey: Indeed we must, they put in hours of time and work hard raising funds to keep them in working order.
Super locomotive, a real classic.
Brian Walbey: Yes she is both of those John, it has taken a lot of money, and time, to get her back to this condition.
A beautifully maintained machine!
Brian Walbey: Indeed she is Tom.
Wow Brian! Wonderful. This one is coming straight from the box..
Brian Walbey: It looks that way doesn't Richard, a lot of time, effort and money has gone in to getting this old girl running again.
