photoblog image From The Competition Folder 24/28

From The Competition Folder 24/28

A series of images I have used in my Camera Club competitions that I have not previously posted.

EYES RIGHT

Taken at Attenborough Nature Reserve on the edge of Nottingham last year, from where I also posted a series last year, I grabbed this shot before the other two dropped their binoculars. I was just a little too slow to catch the man with his up to his eyes as well but at least they are all looking in the same direction.  The Judge liked it but not enough to award it a placing.

The older gent is clearly very experienced, and has "constructed" an abdomen-mounted resting place for those heavy instruments.
Brian Walbey: Indeed he has Ray, sadly most of we older fellows manage to get one of those "resting places" from somewhere!
This is great!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Elizabeth.

I wonder what they've seen?
Brian Walbey: I don't have a clue Chris, I was too busy watching them.

The family that looks in the same direction together...stays together?!
Brian Walbey: I couldn't argue with that Ginnie. BTW you might find my Tuesday offering to your taste, I know you don't look in on Tuesday's.

But what had they seen Brian.
Brian Walbey: I don't have a clue, I was too busy watching them.

I like the descending height of the viewers .. and of the diminishing waist line left to rightsmile I he the little lad keeps up his interest in the great outdoors.
Brian Walbey: Yes it all fits nicely together in the way you describe Alan, what a shame the man hadn't got his glasses up as well.
well captured, LOL
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chantal.
Nice shot Brian, I want to know what was off to the right smile
Brian Walbey: I don't have a clue Martin, I was too busy watching them.

Birdwatching is a fine hobby - and some SC'rs are interested in that - I would like what special they did see. LOl at Alan's observation - the waist line seems to be very essential to him, because he often mentioned this term.
Brian Walbey: We are not generally bird watching people but Attenborough is a fine place to walk and I was lucky to get this group together in that pose. There is also a fine church nearby as well.
They are nicely arranged in size order
Brian Walbey: Yes I was very lucky with this shot.
Makes a change to see the binoculars out rather than cameras. Nice candid Brian
Brian Walbey: Indeed it does Janet, thanks for your comment.
I see no ships smile
Brian Walbey: They'd have a job to just outside Nottingham John smile

I like their arrangement in height order Brian.
Brian Walbey: I was altogether lucky with this shot Chad.
birdwatching, a favorite of mine. Nice image Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Juan, I somehow guessed from your blog you would be a bird watcher.

This is a great shot. You know, all the competitions with judges are very difficult to win... have 4 judges, there you go, 4 different opinions..
I LOVE the picture, I can tell a whole story with it.
Thanks for sharing!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid, yes no two judges like the same thing and that goes for all types of competition, I often wonder how some sports like gymnastics and diving and ice skating can be honestly judged by a group of people all with different opinions, and dare I say it, favourites.
A superb family candid shot Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard.

Good to see a family sharing an interest like this, Brian. Nice photo
Brian Walbey: It is indeed Lisl, and I guess this is also three generations as well.
Yeah, but you caught his expression pretty well, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Yes I did Graeme, the whole shot was a bit of luck to be honest.
Some judges just have noidea Brian, well spotted.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Les. Like me you know that it all depends on the quality of the competition that night and, to be honest, the personal taste of the judge up to a point.
I'm guessing that's Radcliffe on Soar power station in the background Brian - I'm afraid to say in all in my time in Nottingham (as a student and beyond), I never made to Attenborough, despite exploring the region extensively by bike!
Brian Walbey: Your correct about the Power Station Fred, what a shame you never made it to Attenborough, it is actually a series of lakes left after gravel extraction, indeed one lake is still being dredged on a regular basis for aggregates, but the whole place is a fine area to walk in, see the wildfowl and it goes right down to the River Trent.
they even seem to be arranged as per size! very amusing image
Brian Walbey: I was really lucky with this shot Ayush, thanks for your comment.
