photoblog image From The Competition Folder 11/28

From The Competition Folder 11/28

A series of images I have used in my Camera Club competitions that I have not previously posted.

SANDY STEPS

This image was taken at Runswick Bay from where I posted a series last year.  I liked these steps and took the image for a competition called "Steps and Stairs" which is not till later this year.  In the mean time I entered it into a "Texture" competition, although to be honest, as I expected, it didn't get an award.

I am happy to award this "Best rust pic I seen so far today", Brian.

Actually...I like it a lot.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Ray, you are my best mate in Thailand for saying that.
I like everything about it - the textures and colors and shadows... we need to have a serious talk with those judges!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth. Perhaps I should arrange for some you Shutterchancers to come and guest judge for us at the club.
This is a superb composition Brian... not only the sand drifting against the steps but that bright rusted banister king of stole the show....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Peter.

Elizabeth is right...We need to have some words with the judging panel!

I love the rusty banister smile
Brian Walbey: Perhaps I should invite you to come and judge Anyes, thanks for your comment.
Very nice colors and detail... I like the contrast in this image.
Un saludo!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Eduardo.
Definitly gritty realism, not chocolate box.
Brian Walbey: Definitely not chocolate box Sheila.

Superb colours and textures Brian I think its a hit and miss to what judges are looking for.
Brian Walbey: Hi Pedroeric, good to see your back, and thanks for your comment, to be fair all judges, and that includes all of us, have their likes and dislikes which tend to sway final judgements.

a fine light-shadow- photo -and even a rusty pole can look beautiful in the warm sun - I like this photo very much, I don't understand the judges! In my opinion you should have got an award!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Philine. You have to bear in mind that you have only seen my brilliant picture, you haven't also seen the other brilliant ones it was up against.
Good angle and crop
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chantal.
Lovely tones and light Brian, well spotted!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Fred.
I like this very much Brian. I have taken similar ones myself around harbours
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet, those places are always picture paradises.

Excellent contrast of textures, colours, curves and straight lines. Perhaps it didn't win a prize because you cropped the top off!
Brian Walbey: You could be right Ingrid, but thanks for your comment, it does also depend upon the strength of the opposition on the night, and it might be that if another judge saw it he/she would take a different view from the first one.
Nice bit of rust Brian set in a pleasing composition
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I bet this has been there years.
Superb image Brian! I like everything in it: composition, light, textures, shadows...
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.

How interesting to compile a collection of "step and stairs", Brian (has given me an idea) - I like these
Brian Walbey: I have gathered a a few more since I took this so I have plenty of choice for the competition later this year.
I really like your composition and that rusty post is superb!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Martin.
Great bit of rust, Brian!
Brian Walbey: It certainly is Tom.

You have to keep on plugging away Brian - I think I would like to see the top of the pole too.
Brian Walbey: After 40+ years in Clubs I'm not too worried about winning Mike, I just enjoy putting my pictures up for people to see. I should have put the pole top in I agree.
You must be up against some pretty serious competition, mate! This is a delightful detail shot.
Brian Walbey: WE do have some very good photographers in the Club Graeme, you can see some of their work here http://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/sets/
