A Glimpse At Minehead 5/7

In the centre of Minehead is Blenheim Gardens, a delightful park with some beautiful trees and an excellent tearoom.  Blenheim Gardens, was opened in 1925, following the generosity of Mr. Magnor of Northfield House, who wanted to create a public park and donated £500. This lovely Summer House is set to one side among a really nice group of trees including this foreign looking one in the foreground.

This looks like a really charming summer house!
Brian Walbey: Yes I had quite a nice sit in there for a while, I think Maureen was looking at the flower beds or something.

That foreign-looking one in the foreground is probably an Asian tourist, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Could well be Ray, there are quite a few palms in the gardens, the right climate for them in Somerset.
I like the strange palm tree Brian and the little white house... and also like the entire composition....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter. This is a really nice corner of the gardens.

This tree shows how mild the climate is in Minehead Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes it does Chris, there are quite a lot of palms in the gardens.

LOL at Ray. It takes all kinds to make a picture. smile
Brian Walbey: It does in deed Ginnie.
Palm trees are a not unfamiliar sight in the South West.
Brian Walbey: I know they are not Bill, we even have then in gardens where I live believe it or not.

I am amazed to see that tree on the left. Love the shadow BTW.
Wonderful green in the picture. LOL@Ray indeed smile
Brian Walbey: There is quite a number of palm trees in the gardens Astrid, and I like this ones shadow also.

Oh, Mediterranean flair in Minehead- and a wonderful shadow of the whole palm!
Brian Walbey: Yes I like the shadow, and there are quite a few palms in the gardens, a moderate climate in that area.

Nice looking formal gardens Brian.
Brian Walbey: They are altogether nice gardens throughout Mike, and very quiet the day we were there.
That shelter looks great amidst all of the greenery Brian, nice composition.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chad, it is a nice shelter in which I seem to remember enjoying a very pleasant sit for a while.
This is a charming place Brian. Reminds me of Africa somehow!
Brian Walbey: It is a nice garden altogether Richard, and the climate in that area is warm enough for palms to grow quite easily.
Hard to believe you can grow palm trees there. Love the shadow it makes on the ground. Nice composition, Brian.
Brian Walbey: The climate is quite varied down in that part of England Mary, indeed further on in Devon and Cornwall there are lots of palm trees growing.

There's a cracking bandstand in the park, too. Good to hear a brass band on a Sunday, from memory. I was in the park about a month ago one Saturday afternoon; a day trip from home.
Brian Walbey: So I guess you know what a lovely park this is Alan, and it has a reasonable tearoom.
A nice place to sit and relax, Brian smile
Brian Walbey: Yes it is Martin, but not on a day like today!
well, actually those palm trees can stand very cold temperatures Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes I believe they can Juan, the house opposite us has had two for many years but sadly last year they were severely damaged by wind and had to be cut down.

You certanly had a thorough look round Minehead, Brian
Brian Walbey: Well quite a good one Lisl, there is a good shopping centre, all sorts of private shops rather than all the usual high street names.

Nicely bar coded
Brian Walbey: Looks a bit like one of those doesn't it.
Very nice in the sun, Brian.
Brian Walbey: It was a lovely day Graeme, and I enjoyed a quiet sit in that nice summer house.
Minehead never looked like this to me Brian, perhaps I need to get out more. A very pleasant scene.
Brian Walbey: Yes we quite liked the place away from the Butlins area, mind you the first place I visited was the station!
