HOUGHTON DOOR AND WINDOW

I have featured a few shots from St.Ives, Cambridgeshire recently taken at the time we lived there in the 80’s, and this is another in that series taken at the small village of Houghton a few miles away.  Houghton is famous for the National Trust owned Houghton Mill, a real local visitor attraction, but the whole village is full of old houses and the door and window of this one caught my eye while I was there on a photo expedition, I just liked the original way the owner had decided to highlight the shapes.

Someone has cleverly made much from not very much at all, Brian.
Brian Walbey: They have indeed Ray.
The geometry is wonderful!
Brian Walbey: That's what caught my eye.
I bet that door looks exactly the same today Brian.
Brian Walbey: Exactly the same according to Google Earth Street View Richard.

This is eye catching Brian - I like it smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin.
A smart play on rectangles here Brian.
Brian Walbey: A most unusual way of painting the house isn't it.
An unusual and pleasing effect, Brian, well pictured. I'll look out for it next time I'm in Houghton.
Brian Walbey: It is still there Graeme according to Google Earth Street View, in the village square to the left of the shops.
Tidy geometric B&W layout.
Brian Walbey: Made for photographers Martin.
Well spotted, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom.
Simply beautiful Brian. I like the geometry!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, made for people like us.
Just back from a pint at the Three Horseshoes right opposite this cottage. I can confirm that Richard is right and Bill dead wrong. The jugs have been replaced by some decoratve blue bottles, (Glass, not Flies!)
Brian Walbey: I read this after reading your earlier comment Graeme, hope you enjoyed your pint, we often had a drink in that pub when we went down to the village.
