Calke Abbey Spring 1/7

One Spot - Picture 1 of 3

Spring is in the air so following on from last weeks pictures of the little church at Calke Abbey I am staying there this week with a few shots taken last year during the Spring.  There is a fine lake at Calke and this and the two following pictures are taken from the same spot. This one was looking to my left and what fine reflections there were in the water that day.

This is a lovely lake- as you say the reflections are beautiful. What a great place!
Brian Walbey: One of the nicest parts of the whole of the estate Elizabeth.

If this spring looks as good, Brian, you'll be in heaven!
Brian Walbey: Well we are doing quite well at the moment Ginnie, we have had a lovely day here, and Maureen has taken her first longish walk with a friend from church, which is good news.

This was taken on a day when the first green shoots were showing Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed Chris, I can remember what a lovely day it was, and we even sat out and had a picnic lunch.
Yes, indeed, the reflections are beautiful. Looks like a lovely, peaceful spot. (:o)
Brian Walbey: It is one of the nicest parts of the whole estate Ros.
This makes me think of Tales from the river bank Brian.
Brian Walbey: It does have that sort of appeal Chad.
Looks quite early in the Spring Brian.
Brian Walbey: April 9th.last year Bill, and a lovely day, we sat and had a picnic lunch in the sun would you believe.
Beautiful with the freshly leafed trees and reflections.

My type of place Brian out and a bout, fresh air and beautiful things to capture.
Brian Walbey: I think you would enjoy Calke Abbey and its garden and parkland, we were lucky to have such a lovely sunny spring day on our visit last year.

a lovely photo which gives a feeling of spring -

Spring lets his blue ribbons
flutter through the air again.
Sweet familiar scents
drift over the countryside,
full of promise;

violets are already dreaming
of their time time to come.
Listen; the soft sound of a distant harp!
It must be you, Spring;
it is you I have heard.

(E.Mörike, set to music by Robert Schumann, tr. by??)
Brian Walbey: Nice words Philine. So far this year looks as though we might have another nice spring.

Looks beautiful Brian; I imagine the fishing's good too smile
Brian Walbey: It is a lovely lake Martin, but I suspect the National Trust wouldn't tolerate fishing in this lake.
Almost sufficiently inviting for a dip!
Brian Walbey: Only almost Tom, I'm not sure the NT would agree with you.
Wonderful reflections composition with a superb light Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.

How blue and deep your lake looks, Brian. It was good to hear that your wife went walking today.
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a fine lake Lisl. Maureen has been doing a few short walks but today she ventured a bit further, these things take time of course.
