RED ARROWS

Another really quite old slide scan of the world famous Red Arrows taken when we lived at St.Ives, Cambridgeshire.

We went to airshows at nearby RAF Wyton and USAF Alconbury while we lived there and this was taken at one of those I suspect.

This is great, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray.
I love airshows (peace pink army- no pun intended) here once a year in Madrid to celebrate Arm Forces day.
Brian Walbey: I haven't been to an airshow for so many years now, I've always enjoyed them.
This one is a cracker Brian....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter.
love the airshow. can almost hear the ear splitting roar
Brian Walbey: They sound good when there is a group like this.
great timing to catch all the smoke right
Brian Walbey: Right place at the right time Chantal.
I love this Brian. A great symmetry with the planes and with your picture too!
Well done.
Brian Walbey: Right place at the right time Richard.

a very impressive image!
(but, sorry, I personally dislike airshows remembering some terrible accidents in our country, e.g.Ramstein; in general war & peace shows...)
Brian Walbey: Thanks Philine. Sadly it is not unknown for there to be accidents at airshows.
Back in the days when they flew over the crowds!
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed Bill, I'd be surprised if they do these days.
They're quite a team!
Brian Walbey: Yes and this shows just how long the Arrows have been going Tom.
Very good precision from you and the planes.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Mary.
Did 'Smoke get in your eyes' Brian?
Brian Walbey: I can't remember Richard but they are always very impressive.

Great bit of timing there Brian and to be right under them wouldn't get a shot like this today.
Brian Walbey: I suspect they don't fly overhead these days Pedroeric, H.& S.etc.etc.
Great shot Brian!!! Were they puffing out red smoke - or did you enhance that?! Very cool!
Brian Walbey: Thanks E; Elizabeth. No the Red Arrows always puff out smoke trails of all sorts of different colours at certain points in their displays.

And they're still going strong
Brian Walbey: They are indeed Chris despite the two recent unfortunate accidents.
A great shot Brian; Red Arrows: fantastic!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Martin.
Great, Brian, the legendary Red Arrows! I was thinking about them since our exchange re RAF Manston.
Brian Walbey: Yes they had a rough time with the two accidents but let's hope they keep on going.
Always worth taking a picture of the Red Arrows Brian, well caught.
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed Les, this was many years ago of course.

A great reminder of the days before they seemed to be dogged by a period of bad luck. There's a rumour that they could be dis-banded because of the cutbacks; I hope that it is just a rumour.
Brian Walbey: I hope it's just a rumour also Alan, there keeps being rumbles on our local BBC TV station about their future from time to time.
Cool shot...
in Canada we follow our much loved Snow Birds ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joRN-yXcXrA
Brian Walbey: Thanks Jacquelyn, you might have received a response email from me by now.

An impressive sight though one of them seems to be not so red!
Brian Walbey: I wonder if the pilot was put on a charge for having the wrong kind of smoke.
