Staunton Harold 4/10

In this collage of the Golden gates at Staunton Harold I showed from some distance yesterday you get more idea of the layout and delightful artistry of them.

The hound and the stag atop the two towers are from the Shirley family coat of arms and the horseshoes above the two archways are from the Ferrers coat of arms.

It is 4 years today since I posted my first picture on Shutterchance, this is posting number 1,166.

You have done a great job of this montage, Brian.

Four years of enjoyment and instruction...thank you!
Brian Walbey: Thanks on both counts Ray.
I am so pleased you have given us a close look at the wonderful gates Brian.
Brian Walbey: Yes I thought they were worth the close ups of the pillar tops.

THese are wonderful Brian: just look at those twisty aspects to the columns. Congrats on the four years: that is a lot of pictures!
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a fine gateway Chris, but I still have to go a few shots before I catch you up.
Well done Brian. A fine trio to mark the milestone
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill.

Best to photograph those metal beasts before they are nicked Brian.
Brian Walbey: Yes they would make a good target for metal thieves. Local to us last week thieves broke into a premises overnight and stole the fork lift truck which they then drove to another premise and used it to load 26 railway engine wheels on to a lorry, presumably.
What an interesting entrance to a property. Beside the figures I like the spiraling posts. I have no idea how long I've been here. Must check that out.
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a fine gateway Mary.
Fine work!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom.
excellent triptych sir!!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Rob. BTW sorry about my comment the other day, I always thought you were an Aussie not a Kiwi, I shall know better next time.
