A Stroll At Calke Abbey #2

You might have noticed in yesterdays picture of the front of the house the sundial set on a small dais of three steps.  I quite liked this shot of it with the house behind me and the roads leading out through the trees into the acres and acres of parkland beyond.

I like the trees, and the undulating grassy bits, Brian...the timetelling technology, though, looks like it might be a challenge to strap on the left wrist...
Brian Walbey: That's because it is the right wrist version Ray smile
Composition is great! Excellent capture!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Sue.
Nice composition Brian. The grass shows how dry it has been this year!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill. Yes we haven't had that much rain really have we, the reservoir near Calke Abbey is very low indeed.
I do like this- the sundial is pretty cool!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth.
A very nice image Brian. Very tranquil.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frances. It is a very peaceful place except twice a year when they have open-air concerts.
They have a lovely view from the house. Well captured Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet.
Nice parkland scene, Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom.
I remember all these sort of images from our several visits to Calke. Good series Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard. I am going to do a couple of more detailed series through the winter on the house, church and gardens.
Nice background for the sundial Brian... with hills and paths.... is the sundial at least horizontal... it seems to be leaning to the right.... it could be off by as much as a half hoursmile....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Or it could be my eyesight Peter, perhaps I have a natural lean to one side smile Thanks for your comment.

A great view point. It is a few years since I visited the Abbey.
Brian Walbey: We only live a short distance away from Calke so go several times a year, it is a lovely place to go.
A great looking park and composition Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks John.
