photoblog image West Somerset Railway 1/7

West Somerset Railway 1/7

I featured this locomotive on SC back on the 19th.April when it was running at the Great Central Railway in Leicestershire.

It is now back its home railway which I visited a few times whilst on holiday in Minehead in June/July.

GWR 28XX class No.3850 stands in a siding next to the main promenade pathway where it can be seen by everyone who passes by, presumably with the idea of attracting them into the railway.

It would certainly get my attention if I was passing by, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Great looking engine isn't it.
Excellent capture! Great composition.!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Sue.
Perhaps it is just enjoying the sea breeze Brian
Brian Walbey: I'm sure it is Bill, I certainly did while we were there.

A very nice appetizer, Brian, if you ask me!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie. The inland end of this railway is not too far from Chris's home, I believe he goes there regularly, twist his arm and he might take you for a ride out that way.

It looks almost brand new, they know how to take care of wonderful machines like this.
I never get bored looking at pictures like this.
A joy to the eye.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Astrid. The inland end of this railway is not too far from Chris's home, I believe he goes there regularly, twist his arm and he might take you for a ride out that way.

And it is now running with an authentic chimney: beforehand it had a copper capped cast off for a Manor or something similar. Looks good eh!
Brian Walbey: It does look good Chris, I'm not up to knowing much about GWR locos. BTW I've dropped a hint to the girls that the WSR isn't too far from your home.

My wife's aunt used to look after the station at Blue Anchor Brian. Lovely part of the world but then I am a little biassed.
Brian Walbey: And why not Chad, the whole ride on that railway is very nice indeed.
One railway i have not been to Brian.
Brian Walbey: Well worth a visit Michael if you get down to that part of the west country.

Eye catching
Brian Walbey: Fine looking beast isn't it.
There is something good looking at these old trains Brian. I think they look much better than the modern ones.
Brian Walbey: They certainly have more character Frances, thanks.
Very strong depth to the colours Brian, the G10 gives great tones..
Brian Walbey: Thanks Dave. I think with this one the G10 was helped a little bit by Topaz Adjust as well.
Good to see it in such fine condition!
Brian Walbey: Yes they look after their engines very well down there Tom.
We were there last year and had a ride on Tornado amongst others. Lovely looking machine and it is looking very at home there. Nice shot Brian
Brian Walbey: I never got to see Tornado actually moving, and it has now left the WSR to take excursions all over the country most weekends.

She's very handsome, Brian; it looks very functional. I know the location of Minehead station; it almost ends up in the sea!
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a good looking loco, and I say that having grown up on the Eastern side of the country. I guess the station might get a bit waterlogged if the tides are very high.
It is still a grand old locomotive Brian and you have framed it very well....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Peter, it is a lovely loco.

Almost looks like a toy engine!
Brian Walbey: It does Ingrid, I bet one can get a model of this from the Hornby trains people.
