'Scene' Around Whitby 10/14

A series of odd bits and pieces I saw around Whitby in May.

This is a Sentinel steam bus that does circular rides round the main parts of Whitby during the main holiday season.  I was only able to get this quick grab shot as we walked out of a shop, hence the cut-off vehicles front and back.  We didn't get time for a ride sadly, next time perhaps.

For those enthusiast types among you there is a fine write up about Elizabeth at http://www.whitbysteambusandcharabanc.co.uk/elizabeth.htm

She's a vessel of rugged beauty, Brian.
Brian Walbey: She is indeed Ray, sadly we didn't get time to have a ride on it.

What a fabulous "quick grab shot," Brian. She really is a beauty.
Brian Walbey: Yes she is Ginnie, sadly we didn't get time to have a ride on it. BTW they have a very old tram to ride on at the museum on 4th.September, don't miss that.
What a great old bus Brian, and still running.
Brian Walbey: Yes it is Francis.
I think that at one time a Stanley steam car held the world land speed record! I would love a ride on this thing
Brian Walbey: Yes so would I Bill, time didn't allow I'm afraid.

Looks like the attendant also likes to smoke as well as the lovely Sentinel. I read a very interesting book about Sentinel; they could be remarkedly nippy. Good work a grab shot.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. I just wish we'd had time to ride on it. I wonder if it might be running over the Christmas period when you go up that way.
I can just remember seeing steam lorries in London..but that was a long time ago. This is a great shot of one Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ron. We have a chap with a steam lorry where we live, he often takes it for a run round town at the weekends.

Great quick shot, I really like the colour of this old bus smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Linda.
These old buses do have a certain charisma. Good shot, and very lucky.
Brian Walbey: They certainly do Sheila, thanks very much.

I've never seen anything like this before - unusual.
Brian Walbey: Nor had we Ingrid, I wish we'd found time to ride on it.
