Belton House - Part 4: The Church 5/7

Another of the many monuments in the church of St.Peter and St.Paul is this of the 1st Earl Brownlow (died 1853) by Marochetti in the centre and that to Adelaide, Countess Brownlow (died 1824) in the background.

Brian Walbey: Dare I say because the female sex never knows when to shut up Ray, no I daren't smile
Interesting what people do to memorialize others. The photo is very well done- capturing a lot in one frame!
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed, thanks Elizabeth.

He looks as if he is spending eternity eyeing up the lady!

Lots of work
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed vintage.
He looks like he may be praying for her to shut up!
Brian Walbey: That is the general tenure of my reply to Ray Ingrid, but it is a bit sexist in these PC times.

Amazingly, I've actually heard of Marochetti. I need to Google now to see what else he's done and why I've heard of him!

Good lighting in this again.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Alan.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Linda.
Somehow, I can't help feeling that they were never as pious is life as they appear in death!
Brian Walbey: Yes Tom, sadly the history of some of the ruling classes of old leaves a bit to be desired I suspect.
Nicely composed Brian, I become very conscious of my own mortality when visiting churches.
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed John, our life spans are but a fleeting glimpse in the history of time I suppose.
