Chirk Castle 4/5

On the way home from Porthmadog, North Wales last September we stopped off at the National Trust property at Chirk Castle and for three weeks I am featuring a series of shots I took there on three different themes.

There are so many very distinctive rooms in the Castle so here I have done a collage of just a few small areas of several of them.  The ceiling shown here is a marvellous piece of work and more of it can be seen in the picture bottom left.

I'm always amazed at the opulence of some of these places and I can't help thinking that it was originally generally acquired through foul means. I could be wrong, though!

(It's the old version of today's bankers' bonuses!).
Brian Walbey: Well there always have been the favoured few Alan and been on the English/Welsh border this was no doubt an important castle.
It would take some time to see all the wonderful details in this Castle, Brian. Everywhere you look there is something special to grab your interest.
Brian Walbey: Yes one could spend a long time here Beverly but we still had quite a long journey, in English terms, to do so didn't stay too long.
It's very grand inside isn't it. Good job with the excellent collage Brian
