photoblog image (North Wales Notebook) The Other Train 5/5

(North Wales Notebook) The Other Train 5/5

We had a weeks holiday in Porthmadog, North Wales in early September and so for the next few weeks I will be featuring a variety of images and collages, and a mix of subjects, which I hope you find entertaining.

Following on from last weeks theme of Welsh Narrow Gauge Railways this weeks images were all taken from the same place, an open carriage window in a train on the other side of the platform at Tan-y-Bwlch on the Ffestiniog Railway.

To end this week back where we started with another look at the Hamish look-a-like still keeping an inquisitive eye on proceedings on the platform.

Just to bring a smile to your faces before the weekend I spent last Saturday with three friends at the Great Central Railway and we had this photo taken of us for our church website.  Don't we look a motley crew.

So...Hamish is a rail enthusiast, too!
Brian Walbey: Or his cousin is Ray, thanks.
A delightful series Brian ... and you have made a THIRD CLASS effort
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, I will try harder next time until I get to be FIRST CLASS smile

There's that Hamish again. What a sweetie-pie. And I loved the image of you and your friends, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Ginnie.

What a pity Hamish-look-alike has had to travel 3rd class. Even the "poor" people look like they are enjoying themselves.

I was treated to 1st class travel on the train once; a friend of mine is a volunteer and gets discounted travel.
Brian Walbey: I think it is good they stick to 3rd.and 1st.Alan, it at least gives a feeling of old times.

Good photo of you and your "gang" at the Great Central. I spotted a sign to Shepsted as I drove up the M1 yesterday.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. That would have been junction 23, I am literally no more than 5 minutes from that.

I love the hirrified expression on that man with the dog. Does he know something the others don't?
Brian Walbey: He might well do Chad.
That lady is giving you a dirty look Briansmile
Brian Walbey: I guess she didn't want her picture taken over and over again Bill.
Travelling Third Class and still have seats to sit on, though it would have been standing only or straw bales!!

I do get cross these days when second clas is packed and first is nearly empty, I thought we were past all this nonsense.
Brian Walbey: I don't travel on national trains much these days but your scenario is one from the dawn of trains I think Martin.
The dog looks happy, but the lady does not look so happy. Well captured Brian.
Brian Walbey: I think she probably didn't appreciate the number of shots I was taking Laurette.
I agree with Bill, that lady's look is hateful! I love how you've captured this candid scene so wellsmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Sandu.
Hamish look-a-like is really enjoying the sights and smells by the look of it. Good shot of you and the boys. Bob looks a bit like Chris
Brian Walbey: I will tell Bob on Sunday he also has a look-a-like Janet.
"Motley" doesn't touch it, Brian, smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks for that Tom smile
Its a good job she is on the train and you are outside, scary smile
Brian Walbey: She does look a bit fed up with my taking of lots of photos, I think you are right Linda.
That man on the right looks as if he is afraid the Hamish-llok-alike is getting reading to jump. smile
Brian Walbey: I think I might have felt the same Sheila.

Another fine shot Brian and i see that your Westie is still aboard and enjoying the view....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter.
There's plenty to look at Brian. The lady looking at you rather suspiciously, the man talking across the seat to his wife/partner, but the star is the Hamish look-alike. Brilliant
Brian Walbey: yes the lady doesn't look any too happy Pam, but the doggy is brilliant isn't he/she.
A fun ending to the series, Brian. Great capture of the facial expressions of the two passengers.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Beverly. The lady doesn't look too pleased to be on camera.
I go for the ungroomed westie look myself smile
Brian Walbey: Quite a sweetie isn't he/she.
