Somerleyton Church 5/5

Our July holiday to Suffolk saw a days visit to Somerleyton, near Lowestoft.  There is a lovely little church on the edge of the estate, the "big" house of which you will see commencing 25th.October.

To finish this quick look at this lovely little country church a selection of the stained glass windows and a general view of the chancel area including a delightful set of paintings on the lower part of the chancel screen.

The chancel/choir screen (we say 'Lettner'wink is a delight- so wonderful wooden craftmanship and paintings of some saints -also the glass windows are beautiful some of them depict the Crucifixus and Christ in heaven. This church is really a gem and a still working place.
Brian Walbey: Yes isn't it good to see it is still being used.

As Is said yesterday, beautiful windows. But beautiful wood carving as well.

A Beuatiful presentation Brian. The paintings on the screen seem to have some age, are there any close ups of them to come?
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tim. I done a few close-ups but wasn't satisfied with them.
