GCR Golden Oldies Gala - The Staff 4/5

I went to the Great Central Railway at Loughborough on the first day of the "Golden Oldies" gala at the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.  This week will feature some of the staff on duty while I was there.  I have, at last, been playing about with RAW and all of this series utilises RAW, CS3 and Topaz.

This locomotive stood down near the shed most of the day although for £5 one could take it for a run up the yard, I don't know why I didn't take up the chance.  At least the driver was able to relax in the sunshine.

This is a great shot, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Ray.
This one looks a real veteran...the engine i meantongue
Brian Walbey: It is Bill, the history and a video of this in action is here on the 13th. Sorry the 14th.
Surely that would be fulfilling every boys dream? Lovely image. (:o)
Brian Walbey: I was mad not to take up the chance Ros, thanks for your comment.

They didn't believe in building cabs in those days Brian!
Brian Walbey: They certainly didn't Chris, hardly any of the locos at the gala had abs as you will see next week.
Such a lovely capture Brian.
A pity you missed the opportunity!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard. I could kick myself now for not taking up the offer.

Not the sort of cab to be in on a wet day, that's for sure. I belieave the loco is a Manning Wardle for 1891; great work by the preservationists.
Brian Walbey: None of the old locos had cabs in those days I think Alan. A better shot, full history and action video are here ont he 14th.
Good capture of him relaxing, shame you never had a go, but if you did you may not have got this shot smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Linda, next year perhaps if they do this again.
One of those opportunities that you regret when you think about it later. Perhaps there will be another chance next year.
Meanwhile I like the photo and perhaps the driver enjoyed the rest.
Brian Walbey: Yes I should have taken the chance Sheila, one can do a full driving experience day at the railway for several hundred pounds!
They weren't queuing up then. You got a good shot or two anyway
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet, there was only me at the time and I didn't take the opportunity, silly me.
An aristocratic name for a noble machine smile
Brian Walbey: Indeed it is Tom, perhaps he was one of the financiers for the original GCR.

Brian Walbey: I know Richard.
A great little engine Brian, one I have yet to see, I believe it is running on the Middleton Railway. Maybe one day. Nice capture.
Brian Walbey: I am posting a video of it working next week Les, it goes quite well.
Good shot Brian.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks John.
another beauty...
For five quid, I'd give it a go.....
Brian Walbey: I was silly not to have a go on reflection Rob, thanks for your comment.
