GCR Golden Oldies Gala - The Staff 3/5

I went to the Great Central Railway at Loughborough on the first day of the "Golden Oldies" gala at the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.  This week will feature some of the staff on duty while I was there.  I have, at last, been playing about with RAW and all of this series utilises RAW, CS3 and Topaz.

This chap was biding his time before setting out with the Gresley N2 for its next passenger train run to Leicester.

Photographers at Melbourne Hall Gardens

On Sunday my camera club had a meet at Melbourne Hall Gardens near Derby. I caught two of our members shooting these two statues which seem to portray love and hate as you can see. Brian Negus, on the left, I have introduced to you before as he has very severe visual problems but does some excellent photography as you can see at his Flickr account here

Toot...toooooot!
Brian Walbey: You've been watching too much Thomas the Tank Engine Ray, calm down grin
What every boy with a train set dreams of doing. And some grow up to realize their dreams.
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed Sheila, I have ridden on locos several times but that's about it.
I recall your friends pictures and his site is excellent.

That engine driver looks like the cricketer Phil Tufnell!"
Brian Walbey: Interesting because Marion thinks he looks like Anthony Hopkins.

I love that color green for a train, Brian. How fun.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, this was the original colour when these were built many years ago.

Nice atmospheric shot Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris.
I didn't know Anthony Hopkins owned a train?? wink

Great colours!
Brian Walbey: Bill thought he looks like Phil Tufnell, a cricketer, but yes it is a great colour, this was their colour when they were first built many years ago.
Could be from the 1930s smile
Brian Walbey: Well I believe this was how they looked back then Tom with the old pre-British Railways number as well.
A bit of time on his hands. Love the colour of the engine Brian
Brian Walbey: This was, I believe the original colour for this type of engine when they were first introduced Janet.

Looks to be in fine fettle, Brian. Just enough grime on it to make it look used buy shiny enough to sparkle!

Thanks for the Flickr link; some better photos there than even the fully-sighted could shoot!
Brian Walbey: One of my favourite types of loco Alan, I used to see these regulalrly when I was a lad. Not only is Brian (Flickr)a good photographer but he is also a nice bloke and doesn't let his handicap hold him back, he is always travelling somewhere or other. He had only arrived back from Stornaway a few hours before my photo of him was taken.

He looks so confident, great colour and these machine are so beautiful.
Brian Walbey: I used to see these type of engines regularly when i was a boy Astrid so this is one of my favourites.
A couple of golden oldies here Brian smile
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed, thanks John.
these guys are so lucky to do what they do
Brian Walbey: They are indeed Derek although it is hard work for the firemen if not the driver and a lot of them are getting on in years.
