'Scene' in Dorset - Swanage 4/7

This is the final week of this "longish" series comprising a variety of subjects and shots I took during our April visit to Dorset for our nephews wedding.

One thing Swanage does have is plenty of the old red telephone boxes all over town and I managed to get enough suitable shots to make up this collage.

You might note the reference to the Swanage Railway on the right, it goes without saying that will feature here later on.

Lovely stuff Brian: I've been waiting for the railway to appear!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, the railway will be here in full cry on Thursday.

And with a mailbox thrown in for good measure, Brian! I love these icons.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie. To be honest I posted this today as I know you like red phone boxes and you wouldn't have seen them on Tuesday or Thursday, I didn't realise you like post boxes as well.
These are seen all over Brian. I fear they will one day be all gone.
Brian Walbey: There are plent in Swanage. Englnad will really have gone to the dogs if these ever dissapear.
i thought the railway would come along sometime! It is good to see someone has the sense to keep proper phone boxes
Brian Walbey: There are lots of them in Swanage Bill. The railway is here in full cry on Thursday.
Very nice triptych Brian. I really like your presentation!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.
Chances of survival seem quite high as we speak. Nice collection Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks janet, there are quite a few of them in Swanage.
Which one goes to the ministry of Magic??

Lovely collage and so typical British!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Marion.

Brian Walbey: Oh I hope not vintage.
Ah, I love these. So much more character than the modern boxes Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed they have Pamela, long may they remain in Swanage.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Rob.

Well spotted, Brian, and a clever presentation. I've spotted a tea room, too, aand a typical Southern Railways concreate post!

It looks like single phone box needs a coat of paint.
Brian Walbey: I thought that about the coat of paint but at least it is still there Alan. Southern railway stuff pops it head up on Thursday BTW.
Wonderful icons, BT were mad to get rid of so many of them.
Brian Walbey: It is good to see these about John, quite a few villages my way, East Midlands, still have them.
It's good to see the old-time boxes!
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed it is Tom.

I was at a museum with Tracy, Chad, Chris and Bill and there were all the phone boxes of all time, amazing stuff, love the collage.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid for taking the time to comment, I know you are a busy lady. I'm glad you got to see some of these British icons on one of your visits.
Wow! Swanage appears to be well provided with the old red phone boxes. Well spotted.
Brian Walbey: Yes these wern't the only ones I saw Sheila, they fitted the idea for the collage though.

Looks like Swanage is the Old Telephone Boxes' retirement village, Brian.
Brian Walbey: There certainly are plenty of these old boxes about along with all the retired humans.
i would far rather see these as telephone boxes than someones shower etc, nice shots
Brian Walbey: Thanks derek, I go along with that thought.
I remember using the one by the railway (where else) many years ago on my first visit to Swanage. I once had to design the test equipment for the coin mechanisms in the post Push Button era. They were also originally designed by the same person who designed Liverpool Cathedral, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott.

Congratulations on spotting their herding instinct.
Brian Walbey: How interesting Les. Thanks for your comment.
those ubiquitous phone boxes... always add a splash of bright red to any picture.
Brian Walbey: They do indeed Ayush, and to find them in sets like this was a bonus.
