'Scene' in Dorset - Corfe Castle 2/6

This "longish" series comprises a variety of subjects and shots I took during our April visit to Dorset for our nephews wedding.

Ex-South West Trains BR class 121 'Bubble Car' No W55028 returned to the Swanage Railway on 22nd July 2009, having initially arrived via the main line connection from Wareham on 21st March 2009.

The diesel locomotive had been used for driver route training by South West Trains (then carrying the number 960012), until purchased for use on the Swanage Railway.

It is seen here at Corfe Castle station awaiting return to Swanage. It had been used that (Tuesday) morning as an extra train from Norden to Swanage carrying visitors to Swanage market.

We are in Suffolk until the end of the week, I will catch up with you all at the weekend.

A veteran...still in good condition.
These notes of yours Brian are far better than anything Bradshaw achieved.

I'm sure I travelled in one of these exact trains/cars/vehicles/coaches/locomotives back in the 60's when they were for real so as to speak

richard
Brian Walbey: They used to have little things like this running out of Hitchen to places like Dunstable and Bedford.

I remember when these were at the forefront of transport technology Brian. Now they're just functional pieces of history
I once owned a bubble car but it looked nothing like this Brian.
Brian Walbey: I once rode in an Isetta, it was so low I felt my bum was scrapping the ground and the effect of speed was phenonomal even though it couldn't go very fast Chad.

The Swanage line is one of my favorite heritage lines Brian, together with the castle at Corfe. Some good images there.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Les, I do hope they get that permanent main line link one day.

These sort of trains were lovely from a passenger's point of view as you could sit over the driver's shoulder and see the line ahead. I can recall travelling down the Welsh coast from Porthmadog in something similar back in the 1970s.
Brian Walbey: That would have been a very picturesque trin ride I guess Alan.
