'Scene' in Dorset - Norden Station

This "longish" series comprises a variety of subjects and shots I took during our April visit to Dorset for our nephews wedding.

Probably the main tourist attraction in and around Swanage is the Swanage Railway, the restored line that runs steam trains from Swanage, via Corfe Castle to the other terminus at Norden.

Norden railway station is located 1 kilometre to the north of the village of Corfe Castle, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. It is the northern-most station on Swanage Railway, and is a park and ride centre, complete with toilets, refeshments and a picnic area, and in the summer helps overcome the very difficult parking problems for visitors to Swanage.

It was quite interesting to stand and watch as the driver of the train from Swanage "ran-round" his train ready for the return journey with his BR Standard Class 4 locomotive number 80104.  This engine stood in Dai Woodhams scrapyard on Barry Island before being purchased and restored slowly over a further long period of time.  Details of that can be found here

We are in Suffolk until the end of the week, I will catch up with you all at the weekend.

You do such a good job with your collages, Brian. I like this.
Another place to visit Brian , thanks.Nice one.
Have a good week Brian. I like these big tank engines.
Another good, clean, sharp collage. You are the expert.
Nice collection, Brian - it's good that these places keep steam alive!

You do this sort of cameo very well, Brian. There's talk of restoring a permanent through train service to the mainline network but Network rail want £3M for the work!

I saw this fine loco on the West Somerset Railway earlier this year - see http://www.alanrolfe.com/blog/?p=1110
Brian Walbey: Yes i believe talks are ongoing about the permanent link alan but as you say £3M, that will take a lot of finding.
A great little railway. The view of this from the hill opposite Corfe castle is very nice with the trailing smoke in the landscape. Nice series of shots.
Nice collection again Brian.
