photoblog image Loughborough Carillon - Colour

Loughborough Carillon - Colour

2009 Retrospective - I had a number of images I took last year that I would have liked to have posted on SC but time didn't allow.  For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy.

On  Monday I showed an image of the Carillon at Loughborough taken on a dull December day.  This is another image, from a different angle, a few days later in the sunshine.  I used Dynamic PhotoHDR to process this before finishing off in CS3.

It is a fine shot, Brian, but I like Monday's even better.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Ray, Monday's has a bit more atmosphere I think.

I like the contrast of the structure against the sky, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Jennie.

This is a very fine tower indeed Brian: perhaps built in honour of someone?
Brian Walbey: It is the town war memorial Chris and the 1st.and 2nd.floors are a regimental museum.
On Monday it looked curiously creepy, today it looks intriguing and interesting. Amazing the different the weather makes.
Brian Walbey: See what you think on Friday Sheila with this shot in B&W.

She's a beauty, Brian. I don't usually see these free-standing like this...but usually attached to a church tower. You've done her proud.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie. This is Loughborough war memorial and the upper floors are a regimental museum, also one can climb up to the platform around the top.

I think I prefer the dull, misty version Brian. This is far too bright.
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: The earlier one has a bit more atmosphere I will agree Ingrid.
Lovely image Brian ... I really must make an effort to explore Loughborough.

richard
Brian Walbey: I'm sure you would find plenty to shoot in Loughborough Richard, especially on Thursdays and Saturdays when the centre is full of market.
Lovely scene, Brian - perhaps a crop to include the left and right trees would focus the shot even better?
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom, i will look at your crop suggestion.
A fine picture as well Brian, but I much prefer Monday's one!
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Richard.

Ah.. yes, this is better, Brian; I can see the top more clearly now. There is a lovely light to this.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Alan.

The autumnal colours, esp. the shades of orange, are wonderful - a very fine tower looking a bit exotic- did the carillon sound beautiful?
Brian Walbey: Thanks Philine. To be honest in all the times we have been to lLugborough we have never heard this being played.
What a difference sunshine makes, I like both, but this is a lovely image smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Linda, I bet Steve will remember this.
Nice lighting..A very good picture Brian.
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Ron.
And it looks good sir!!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Bill.
it's nice, but B&W suits it better IMHO
Brian Walbey: This is the one I have for my wallpaper Rob that I mentioned before.
This is nice but prefer the newer one, in b & w smile
Brian Walbey: I'm sitting on the fence with this Pam, I do have the colour version as my Desktop wallpaper at the moment.
