photoblog image Alnwick Castle Grounds

Alnwick Castle Grounds

2009 Retrospective - I had a number of images I took last year that I would have liked to have posted on SC but time didn't allow.  For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy.

During the Northumberland holiday last year we went to the gardens and castle at Alnwick and I have featured images of both on here over recent times.

This is the parkland to one side of the castle taken looking over the top of the castle wall.

I have now opened a blog on Flickr with images that have appeared on SC and others that haven't and will not.  You can find me here

Nice countryside Brian
Brian Walbey: A lovely part of our country Tony.
Lovely shot of a great place. Must be 20 years since we went!!
Brian Walbey: The area around Alnwick was very nice I thought Bill.
I see they haven't built on that rivers flood plain.... sensible move.

I wonder if we have to thank Capability Brown for this landscape Brian?
Brian Walbey: Could well be Chris, whatever it is very pleasant to the gaze.
Not a bad job being a Duke, is it?
Brian Walbey: Along as one doesn't have a predecessors death duties to worry about Tom.

Can't wait for weather like this Brian
Brian Walbey: Nor can I Conrad, it is cold again today.
Wonderful landscape! Do you know what the small wooden structures are around the tree mid left?
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary. Those wooden structures are small frames in which are growing young trees, they will no doubt be removed once the trees have reached a certain size.
A wonderful countryside! Very nicely captured Brian!
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Richard.
It might sound a silly question, but do people still live in the castle or is it National trust, lovely views it has smile
Brian Walbey: Yes the Duke of Northumberland and his family live in part of the castle and also own Alnwick Gardens next door.
A beautiful landscape from top to bottom Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ron.

I spent the night in a hotel in Alnwick but only saw the castle from the outside.
Brian Walbey: What a shame Chad it is well worth a visit.
A delightful scene Brian
Brian Walbey: Many thanks Janet.
Been there, Done that and got the horse brasses smile many years ago of course and would not have considered the view from the castle walls, nice to be reminded.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Les, I thought it was rather a pleasant outlook.
