Boys Toys 2/3

2009 Retrospective - I had a number of images I took last year that I would have liked to have posted on SC but time didn't allow.  For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy.

We took the grandchildren out one November afternoon to a park in nearby Coalville where a club have built a miniature gauge railway track to run their model steam locomotives on.  These two were busy getting this lovely model, seen also on 11th.January, ready to haul another train round their quite lengthy track.

Superb little toy...wonderful image of big kids playing with the favourite toys, Brian.
Brian Walbey: We men are all kids at heart Ray when it comes to big toys like this I reckon.
woah, that is a small train. looks like a grown-up toy, but one the kids would like as well smile
Brian Walbey: And be honest Charles, most of us big boys would like a chance to play with that as well.

The power of steam
Brian Walbey: Indeed vinatge, you would be surprised at just how much weight this little engine managed to pull.

A true work of art Brian: it could be a real V2!
Brian Walbey: There's a name to conjure with Chris, V2, the engine not the rocket of course.

Looks to be a superb model. Oh to have the skills of some of these guys.
Brian Walbey: It is a lovely model Alan, you will see some others later on.
... their wives wouldn't be allowed within yards of this ....

richard
Brian Walbey: Be honest Richard, most wives would be quite happy to let their "big boys" play with these, it keeps them out from under their feet smile
Brings back memories - the trains with that livery used to go past the station I was born at. And, of course, my Dad worked for the company. smile
Brian Walbey: So you must have be born on the premier line then Tom, I mean of course the line North out of Kings Cross, I was an LNER man myself.
I Some toys there a company that makes these engines or are they hand built by the owners..Some toy..eh Brian.
Brian Walbey: I think some of these things can be built from kits Ron although they are very expensive. Thanks for your comment.
A very precious possession for these two. Its lovely.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Linda and it went very well once it was fired up.
Like most boys who have train sets, these two have kept the interest well into their mature years.

How long is this track, Brian, and why is there a red caution sign posted there? Can those trains pose a danger?
Brian Walbey: I suppose the sign is there for H.& S.reasons Beverly. The track is probably about 1/4 mile long all told but winds about inside a fenced off area.
Boys eh! Who said they never grow up?
Brian Walbey: I bet you'd like to have a go with one of these Chad, wouldn't all us big boys smile
It always amazes me how powerful these models are as they haul carriage fulls of folk around
Brian Walbey: This pulled a sit astride truck with about 8 people on it Bill, quite powerful as you say.
cool toys!!
a lot of dedication goes into these.
Nice image.
Cheers
Rob
Brian Walbey: Thanks Rob.
