photoblog image Afternoon Rest 1/2

Afternoon Rest 1/2

Well the Christmas weekend is over and I hope you all had a very enjoyable time wherever you were and whoever you were with.  I have some miscellaneous postings up to New Years Day which I hope you will find interesting.

During our recent visit to Clumber Park near Nottingham, the subject of a recent series of mine in November, I spotted this couple enjoying a rest in the afternoon sunshine.  Not being too bold with candids I took this from a distance, but because I did so I think it has helped with the composition.

There will be a slightly different take on this same couple tomorrow.

I had two pictures in my local newspaper last week, one was this http://brianaw.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Painted_Lady_/  and the other was of the Chairman and members of my camera club receiving the annual sponsorship cheque from a local building society, in lieu of the newspaper photographer who was busy elsewhere.

Spot on with the composition Brian. I love the colours of the brick wall too.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Pamela.

These people are doing their best to soak up whatever heat they can gain from the winter sun Brian - nice shot!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, it was a lovely October day as you saw from my Clumber series a few weeks back.

There's nothing quite like sitting in the sun, Brian, no matter what time of the year. Well done. And yes, congrats on yet another publishing achievement! smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, I agree. It is an anniversary day on SC for me tomorrow by the way.
Another Chris Phillips lookalike. Yes that's the one.
Brian Walbey: Surely not with a cap like that Chad smile
Congratulations for being published Brian!
Great composition. They really seem enjoying the sunlight!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.
Wonderful shot Brian ... As an alternative I'd love to get my hands on this image convert to bw and crop out roughly the top half ... but that's me ;-) richard
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, we know of course you have already given the image the "Trimage touch"."
The light is what I love in this. The light of autumn is so beautiful. Congrats on the photos in print.
Brian Walbey: It was the light that attracted me as soon as I brought the original up on the monitor mary.
I like everything about this, the richness of the wall, which tones so well with the bench, the shadows from the tree, and the attitude of the people. A splendid study.

Congratulations on your double publication.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Sheila.
This one is a keeper, Brian. Congratulations on getting your pictures published. Well done!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Beverly.

Yes, this pic breathes tranquillity and peace- the couple( I suppose: mother & son) enjoys the rest while sitting in the November sun and observing something we don't know - I especially like the warm red of the brickstone wall and the shadows of tree (how many green leaves!) and bench!
Brian Walbey: It was a lovely afternoon Philine, I suspect you would have enjoyed a quiet sit and contemplation at this spot.
Well done getting in your local paper. These two are enjoying doing nothing in the sun!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, and we'd just had a nice lunch sitting in the autumn sun also.

You're right about the composition here, Brian. The tree adds to the scene. I believe it would be a little chilly there right now. Congratulations on your newspaper photos; a new career for you, perhaps? wink
Brian Walbey: My working days are well and truly over Alan, even if it involved cameras. Thanks for your comment, it certainly would be cold there today I should think.
Composition right, Colours right, Detail right, subjects interesting, hits the right note Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Les.
