A Great Central Visit 2/6

I said during a recent posting we visited the Great Central Railway at Loughborough recently.  There was very little happening but I used my new G10 to take a few shots anyway and this week you will see some of them.

Following my hint from yesterday there indeed is one of the famous Deltics that used to charge up and down the East Coast Main Line from London to Edinburgh and back.  This is 55019, Royal Highland Fusilier, which is owned by the Deltic Preservation Society.  It was at the railway especially for the Diesel Gala being held in early September.

More about the steam locomotive in a later image.

We are away until tomorrow, I will endeavour to catch up with your comments and postings after that.

The sight of a Deltic bringsback happy memories of the ECML Brian. I think there are one or two still running around on the national system in preservation
Brian Walbey: Tbere are still a few running Chris, I remember them from when I used to travel in to Kings Cross for work way back then.

Like the lineside huts, and the wisp of steam !!! also the unusual framing, looking forward to the rest of the series Brian.
Brian Walbey: I hope you enjoy the rest of the series then Graham.
Love the reflection of the wall on the side of the engine. I have an old railway annual somewhere where the Deltic was the big new thing!
Brian Walbey: They were great engines Bill, I saw them every day when I travelled up to Kings Cross for works in the 70's.

Loads on interest in this, Brian. I like the old coach body and the interesting "paintwork" on the steam loco. Your POV is superb.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. The "paintwork", as you no doubt guessed, is the reflection of a wall on the left. this loco has only recently had a repaint and shines like a button.

Nice framing. The reflection of the wall in the train is cool.
