Off To The Sunshine

One from the "Oddments Folder" this is an aircraft taking off from East Midlands Airport, not far from Derby and Nottingham.

There is a public area to one side of the end of the runway and it allows shots like this as they go past on take-off.  It looks, by the nose-wheel, as if the Pilot is just retracting the wheels.

haha never heard of ths airline before. nice capture smile
Brian Walbey: I gather from Les this airline has now been swept up by a rival, thanks for your comment.
I believe My Travel merged with Thomas Cook Airlines last year and their last flight was on the 30th March 2008, so this is something of a rare shot then Brian. Nice capture.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Les, and for the information, companies are forever changing hands these days.
A historic shot Brian.
Brian Walbey: It certainly seems like it Chad.

Very nice Brian: I wonder where it's headed?
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, we'll will never know where it was going, I trust it has arrived by now though smile
A good spot then, nice shot
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Nigel.
Great shot Brian. You can also get good aircraft shots from the open-air top floor parking at Gatwick Airport.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Sheila. No doubt you could also get arrested by a "Jobsworth" for taking pictures there in the first place at Gatwick.
Very nice capture Brian. The wheels are definitely being retracted!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.
Happy sardines off to drunktongue
Brian Walbey: They probably were Bill, a lot of the flights from East Midlands are to Spain, Greece and the Canaries etc.

I have never heard of that airline good looking aircraft
Brian Walbey: Thanks vinatae. Apparently they have now been taken over by someone else.
Well captured Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Janet.
Looks like another lot of happy holidaymakers off for some sun, sea and ... smile I'd love to be able to fly a plane.
Brian Walbey: I can't guess what the word you missed out could possibly be Alan smile I must admit to been a non-flyer, terrified is the appropriate word I think.
nice shot.
Having spent half my life in the damn things, I am glad to be land lubbered for a while.
Although I am off to Barrow Island in Western Australia this weekend (Work).
Cheers
Rob
Brian Walbey: Thanks Rob, I shall be quite happy if I never set foot in a plane again, I am one of these people afraid of flying I'm sorry to admit.
Up..up and away..You've had your share I know Rob. Good luck on your next destination....I got your name right this time !!!
Brian Walbey: Oh know you didn't Ron smile but I'll let you off seeing as how you sent me a very nice apology.
No, you are allowed to take photos from that roof parking at Gatwick. I know - I spent hours there with my camera a few years ago (expensive hours, I may add). I was there a couple of months ago, and there were several photographers there, some with tripods, some with big set-ups, zoom lenses etc., some with pocket cameras.
Brian Walbey: Sounds like a good rendezvoux for plane spotters then Sheila.
Nah ... this is a model plane Brian .... ;-) richard
Brian Walbey: If it was a model I'd made then it wouldn't have looked as good as this Richard, that never has been one of my better qualities.
up up and awaysmile fine shot Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Tim.
It looks as though you could almost reach out and touch it.
Brian Walbey: The public area is only a short distance from the side of the runway Ian although there is a big fence and I was standing on a spectator mound.
YOU SHOULD SELL IT TO THEM FOR AN AD.
Brian Walbey: Trouble is I think they've gone out of business Albert.
