photoblog image Lamp

Lamp

This image is a scan from a colour slide and is so old that I don't even recall what I took it with, probably my trusty old Praktica.

I seem to remember it is one of the lamps on Holborn Viaduct but can't be sure. Having scanned it I converted it and used the "Smooth" preset in  Topaz to give it what i think is a nice finish.

That is one ornate lamp, Brian. I bet you don't see many of those anymore!
Brian Walbey: No doubt any new ones are cheap Chinese imitations Ginnie!

One of your best to date Brian, what a cracking posting.I wonder if the council will replace all the lamps with low energy light bulbs?
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Graham. It won't look the same with one of these "odd" bulbs will it.

Brian Walbey: Thanks very much vintage.
We could do with more of these about. Beautiful lamp brian
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed Janet, thanks for your comment.
As Graham Pickett points out the bulb dates this picture nicely, it looks clean as well.
Brian Walbey: And I done a quick Google martin and after all these years this lamp, and its companions still seem to be there.

Love the finish, really enhances the details, giving it a nice depth of field, too.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Mia.
I think you're spot on with the location, Brian. When I used to work for BT, we had an office just down the road from it and I used to walk across it maybe once every two to three weeks for a while. Never took a photo though.. always seemed to be ina rush for an "important meeting" or, more likely, to get the hell out of it as quick as I could! A good edit.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. I had a quick look on Google and these lamps still seem to be on the bridge, thanks goodness, they are very attractive.
A nice one from the archive beautifully restored.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Bill.
Very ornate ...and has kept well over the years..Nicely done Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Ron.
