photoblog image Melbourne, Derbyshire

Melbourne, Derbyshire

Not far from where Richard (Trim) showed us a picture of Staunton Harold Hall recently is the small town of Melbourne, Derbyshire, more details of which are at http://www.melbourne-uk.com/?Tourist_Information:Places_of_Interest

It has a very nice hall and gardens which can be visited and the old stables block has been turned in to shops and very good restaurant.  The church is very old and very interesting inside and, as you can see, the war memorial is a very attractive structure.

I made good use of ShiftN in this picture to straighten up the converging verticals.

Looks like you did a little more than just a ShiftN twiddle, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, just a tad of Topaz as well with this.

looks like a touch of topaz thrown in as well Brian, downloading shifN as l type. Love free software thanks Brian
Brian Walbey: Topaz has been used a bit Tony, enjoy ShiftN it is easier than doing it in PS.

A lovely scene Brian: I've never been to this area
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris. It is quite nice round this way, very rural but not far from Derby at the same time.

Brian I have not heard of shiftN.good photo
Brian Walbey: Thanks vintage, ShiftN is a good programme for dealing with converging verticals, and it's free. Just use the default settings and it seems to work o.k.
I use it a lot with buildings Brian..Wouldn't like to live there if that clock is a chimer !!!
Brian Walbey: Must admit I didn't notice if the clock chimed Ron.
Looks like a nice place. I like your twiddles, and I'm off now to have a look at ShiftN. Thanks for the tip.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Sheila. The best advice I got re ShiftN is to use the default settings rather than mess about. It works that way for me.
Not heard of Melbourne before, but it looks to be a fine place if this is anything to go by. Good work on the editing.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. Melbourne is a nice little country place. I will be showing two more shots from there over the coming weeks.
Looks like a very interesting place Brian. Will take a note of ShiftN
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Janet.

Excellent picture Brian, and a good example of what ShiftN can do when it behaves itself.

I think you probably did a little more though, because the detail is very good
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ellie. Yes I did use a touch of Topaz on this as well.
