5542 Departs Toddington

This was taken at Toddington, the starting point of the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway, that we visited during our recent break in the Cotswolds. Here the train, pulled by 2-6-2T number 5542 is departing for Cheltenham racecourse at the other end of the line.

Sadly, in the summer you don't get the clouds of smoke from the chimney and what Health and Safety would say about the position taken by the Guard on a moving train is beyond imagination.

This is great stuff Brian: it has started my day off in the way I wish it to continue
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, and I hope you enjoyed your visit to St.Albans.
I shall never be bored looking at these engines Brian. Thank you.
Brian Walbey: Nor will I Ron even if it is Great Western and not L.N.E.R. smile
Lovely shot Brian. These beauties date back to the late 20's
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I thought this was probably quite old, I am not too familiar with GWR locos being an L.N.E.R.man by birth.
