People #5/7

This couple at the Kedleston 1940's rally gave a talk about fashions for both sexes during the 1940's which was actually quite interesting.  They are both, as you can see, dressed in the clothes of the times.

I left this in colour to highlight the really strong colours of the ladies outfit and the awful pullover the man is wearing.  Dare I say that some of us more "Senior" members of SC had to wear pullovers like that for school way back then!

If you aren't looking in over the weekend have a good one but this series will run  to completion over the next two days.

I think colour was a good choice here, Brian.

Interesting series.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, yes B&W would have not worked here I feel.

Very good Brian: I might get a hat like that!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, perhaps we should all get hats like that and start a new trend among the older generation.
Another good one Brian... I want a hat like that as well.

Brian Walbey: THanks Richar, I suggested to Chris we could start a retro trend with hats like that.
I like the hat too. hope those jumpers never come back though!
Brian Walbey: Those jumpers would be a real embarrasment these days Bill, I know my daughter would cross the road if she saw me in one of them, and the hat.
Great idea have left the colours Brian. They are from those years indeed!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, bright colours for drab times I suppose.
Tiff dresses like that bloke now, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Well he said he would like the hat Chad so why should I disbelieve you smile

I actually love the clothes of the forties. I'd have loved to been there.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Mary, those clothes do remind me of what my Mum used to wear though.
I've liked all this series so far. Brings back some memories for me too, I also grew up in the 40s/50s.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Sheila, nice to have revived some memories.
Bring back Fair Isle sweaters!
Brian Walbey: No thanks Ian, my daughter would disown me!
Nice colours Brian, I like the man's expression
Brian Walbey: Thanks Pamela, I waited quite a while before I got the shot I wanted.

THanks to you, Brian, and this series, I was at Kedleston Hall this afternoon! No 1940s rally, but someone's wedding (no idea, whose but I managed to get a glass of champagne to take on the lawns!). Ah.. so this clothing is no longer fashionable, then? wink
Brian Walbey: I think the official term for that is "filtching" Alan and why not if you can get away with it. I hope you enjoyed Kedleston, I am featuring a series of general photos from there on a couple of weeks time.
