Oaks-in-Charnwood 1/6

Not far from Shepshed is the parish church of St.James at Oaks-in-Charnwood and on 21st.March they had an open day in order to view the wonderful sea of daffodils at the back of the church.

Unfortunately they were in the shade while we were there so I just done some outside shots of the church and then went inside which I had all to myself, except for Maureen and the steward.

This weeks pictures were all taken either in or outside this delightful country church.

good framing of the church, adding in some great foreground.

I'd be in heaven there, Brian. It's so idyllic.
Brian Walbey: I'm going to make you jealeous Ginnie, we stood in this very spot at 11.30 this morning and it still looked lovely, I didn't have my camera with me this time though.

Lovely cemetery, Brian...especially like the huge mausoleum for the Jesus bloke, even if his remains are not inside.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, this little chapel is still used for services every Sunday.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I enjoy church pictures as you know.
I think the dark works well with these gravs, Brian. They are highlighted though.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chad, it does seem quite a good combination of light and shadow.

I do like our old churches. Its so difficult t oget unspolit photos of the villages where they are now with cars and satellite dishes but luckily its possible to get decent images of the churches, as you've done. You've pipped me to the post as I was about to do a week of church photos myself but I;ll leave it for a while now.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, sorry if I put your plans out of order, Bill is doing churches this week as well.
Looks pretty much ok to me Brian.... richard
