MONOCHROME MANIA - PART 2 #14

Oykell Arches

I can't say very much about this other than the fact that it was taken on a Scottish holiday in the early 70's, and having stopped by this stream whilst out on a coach trip the driver said these two bridges were known locally as the Oykell Arches.

Perhaps some of our Scottish friends might be able to enlighten us more about these bridges.

(All of the pictures in this series were taken on B&W.film, developed and printed by me, and sometimes entered into Club competitions.  This is original monochrome work and the only digital bit is scanning the prints into Photoshop and preparing them for display here.)

I like how you have framed an arch in the arch, Brian. Probably every camera toting visitor tries to achieve that perspective but I wonder how many 6 year olds [like you would have been then] manage to get it right?
Brian Walbey: Slight error there with the age Ray, I wish smile Thanks for your comment.
This is a splendid imageBrian

Lol at Ray! But it is nicely framed and you have a good range of tones.
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ingrid, as we said before this film mono is different from the digital version isn't it.

Excellent image
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment vintage.
Lovely tonal range, this is the true beauty of BW film. And just like we all got hood winked into swapping vinyl for CD. The same can be said for film to Digital.
Brian Walbey: You might well be right fotografa but digital saves using all that smelly chemicals and doing all the clearing up after finishing the darkroom. Thanks for your comment.
A wonderful perspective shot Brian. I really like the angle!
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Richard.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I have loads of others that I don't think are up to scratch. Now all I need is a decent slide scanner, mine is not very good.

Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Jim, I seem to remember we were on the way to or from Ullapool from Inverness on a coach trip, but can't be entirely sure.
It has been a good series of your early work Brian, I do like this one of the two bridges.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Les, one more three week set to come later in March.
