MONOCHROME MANIA - PART 2 #12

On The Turn

The part of East Anglia we lived in during the 70's and 80's is dotted with gravel pits, indeed I used to work for one of the biggest aggregate suppliers, ARC/Hanson, and this was taken on one of the water filled pits near my office at the time in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire.

I felt I was lucky to get both of these yachts in unison with each other. This lake is now one of the best angling venues in the area I believe.

(All of the pictures in this series were taken on B&W.film, developed and printed by me, and sometimes entered into Club competitions.  This is original monochrome work and the only digital bit is scanning the prints into Photoshop and preparing them for display here.)

Yes you are right - the way the sails echo eachother makes a good composition. I love the quality of these old b/w pics.
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ingrid, they have a different sort of look to Photoshop converted images I feel.

Indeed well caught Brian. You are right they are quite different from digital shots converted.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Bill.
We've got places like this Brian at the Cotswold Water Park - where there are flooded pits for all kinds of activities
Brian Walbey: This was at the back of my office in St.Ives, Cambs when I worked there in the 70's for a Sand & Gravel company who had dug the pit some years before.
Nicely timed Brian...Great shot.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Ron.
