Old Boat

My final posting for 2008 was taken during our visit to Burnham Overy Staithe in Norfolk last September.

You may remember my earlier postings from there during the Autumn, and here I was fascinated by the very poor condition of this old boat pulled up on the shore.

I am open to suggestions as to what the spatula is used for that is sticking out of the back of the boat.

Brian Walbey: Frying eggs in the middle of the North Sea Tracy? Could be the same as using an old coat hanger for a radio aerial I suppose.

That used to be the rear side mirror......gringrin...and if there is no traffic you can use it as a mirror to shave....and otherwise.....to get the fried fish turned over, or spank the cook with....shall I go on...

Brian, it is a great picture....thank you for all the nice comments on my blog and for your friendship, I do hope 2009 will be of good health for you and Maureen.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid, "spank the cook", I don't think you'd better go on :-D Happy 2009.
The spatula was used as a rudder Brian.
Have a joyful New Year's Eve!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, by the state of the boat I think it was the need for a rudder.

Damn! Richard beat me to the use of the spatula. How about additional propulsion? Nicely seen.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, it is probably some secret Norfolk technique we others know nothing about.
