photoblog image Sandringham Lake

Sandringham Lake

I put a humerous picture from our visit to Sandringham House on SC.on Tuesday but this is a more picturesque one.  There are two lakes near the house and this is the nearest of them.

I will show a picture of the lake another time but here you can see one end of the house peeking round the trees and shrubs from this beautiful little area of the gardens.

It really is a place worth visiting, next time we will probably go in to the house as well. More details can be found at http://www.sandringhamestate.co.uk/

For those overseas who are not aware, Sandringham is where our Queen and the royal family gather to celebrate Christmas each year.

Well Friday is here already, doesn't time fly when you are enjoying yourself. Back on Monday so have a good weekend all.

This kinda reminds me of our Biltmore House in Ashville, NC, Brian, which we have toured at Christmas-time.

Very idyllic!
Brian Walbey: Biltmore House looks very imposing Ginnie and the gardens look very attractive, a place to enjoy in fact.
One finds this to be a pleasing picture Brian smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, and a very pleasing place to visit as well.

Brian, I would not mind to stay in a place like this and walk the grounds.
This is a great picture, love the view.
Astrid
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid, I am sure you would like to walk here. There are acres of garden and even more acres of parkland further out, and of course lots of photo opportunities.

I know little of Sandringhamd, other than being a Royal residence, of course. The usual view is of the Royals going to church on Christamas Day morning so this a welcome change - and a lovely view to boot.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, I will be showing a few more as time goes on. We went in the church but photos aren't allowed, they have their own booklet to sell, but it is amazingly ornate inside. Pay a vist here if you ever get this way, I bet you will enjoy it.

Brian I went here on my short visit to the UK recently. I hadn't been that keen when it was suggested, but didn't want to be rude to my hostess. Was I glad I went it is a beautiful place and we did go inside. No pics are allowed and I didn't try to sneek any, but I did sneek a few up at the church. Took umpteen photos. Looks like you got a nicer day than us. The sun did come out at times otherwise it was raining.
Lovely image of the house from this angle.
Brian Walbey: I'm so glad you had time to visit here Aussie but sorry about our English "summer" weather on the day you went. I took lots of pictures as well and some of them will be put on SC during the next few weeks.
