Picton Castle Gardens #3

Another unknown, to me, flower in the walled garden at Picton Castle I am featuring this week.  This also makes my 200th.posting since I joined SC in December., 2007.  No doubt someone will provide more details of this plant, in the meantime more details regarding Picton can be found at http://www.pictoncastle.co.uk/index.php

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your milestone, Brian. I know how good that feels.

Secondly, this is a most unusual flower, not only in shape but in color against the background foliage!
Brian Walbey: Thnaks Ginnie, I will have to ask Maureen what this one is as I'm not very good on plant names.
Congratulations on the 200th, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chad.

Happy 200th! Interesting plant but clueless (as usual) on what it is.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, I asked the gardener in the house but she wasn't sure either what it is.

Looks like a plant from the thistle family, but have no idea of it's name sorrysmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tracy, Maureen doesn't know what it is either without plowing through all her gardening books, from which you will realise I am not the gardener in the household smile

I can help you out yet again Brian (I sound like a walking encyclopedia!) - it's an eryngium or sea holly. I have got some very similar in my garden but they are bright blue. Lovely plants - nice photo. Congrats on the 200 - keep them coming smile
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ingrid, I will tell Maureen what it is, I thought they were a nice plant as well.
Well done on the 200 Brian. I didn't know it was Sea Holly...and Iwas brought up near to the coast!! Nice picture...keep them coming
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, my oracle, Maureen, admits to knowing its name now Ingrid has told us all.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Aussie, I don't know how long it will take me to get another 200 pictures to show.
