photoblog image Tenby Lifeboat Houses

Tenby Lifeboat Houses

Another shot from our recent holiday in Tenby.  Since last we were there another lifeboat house has been built to allow the use of a more modern and larger lifeboat.

The house with the orange roof is the older one with the new one in the background.

More details can be found at http://www.rnli.org.uk/rnli_near_you/west/stations/tenbypembrokeshire?gclid=CJuEyNLe55QCFQyvQwodEGSmSQ  and film of a launch can also be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0CTrgEjns4

Love the clarity of this shot and that special light you get at the seaside.
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: The air was so clear and crisp with the bright sunshine Ingrid, it was a pleasure to take photos. Thanks for your comment.

Lovely and crisp Brian, I really like this shotsmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tracy, it's a bit "classic" in view but I don't mind that at all.

I feel like I'm getting my education, Brian. These lifeboat houses are a new concept for me!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie. There are lifeboat houses and crews all round the coast of Great Britain, funded entirely by public donation, I believe the government doesn't give a penny, or cent in your terms. More about this charity can be found at http://www.rnli.org.uk/

This looks like that little house is just going to slide right off into the water. Great shot!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Raffi, I never thought of it like that, I think after all these years it's very permanent.

A classic scene, Brian. I can't recall when I was last there whether there was one or two slipways. The orange roof really makes this stand out/
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, I'm not sure when the new boathouse was built, needless to say it is not as attractive as the older one.
It is a long time since we went to Tenby. It rained all week when we wentsad

Nice shot Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill we were really lucky, we had the only sunny and dry week of the summer so far.

A lovely photograph, Brian. Very scenic, I can almost smell that salty sea air smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Paul, when the tide goes out here you would have to have a good sense of smell to smeel the sea as it goes out a long way.

You know, I've always wanted to be in a lifeboat going down one of these slipways, it's always seemed a rather splendid way to get onto the water.

A fine picture
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ellie, I guess the launch is good on a calm sea, but when it's rough, no thanks!
