photoblog image Bits and Pieces #1

Bits and Pieces #1

A little theme for three days of canal boat items, a subject I enjoy.  All three pictures were taken at different times at the Loughborough Canal Festival which is held at the Mayday Bank Holiday weekend.

This nice little arrangement caught my eye on top of one of the boats, especially the mix of different colours and the shadow across the white roof.

The colors are indeed fabulous, Brian, and remind me a bit of Pennsylvania folk-art tole painting!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, I am not sure if there is any meaning to the designs that are used for this type of painting.
Nice shot Brian: this is a very traditional form of boat painting
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, for some reason I find this type of painting very attractive.

Such vibrant and ornate patterning. A terrific photograph. Now my appetite is wetted, and I look forward to the forthcoming ones.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Paul, I hope the other two live up to your high expectations!

I'm always amazed at the presentation of some these barges and the attention to detail. Lovely crisp colours, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, we have a lot of canals and marinas around here and some of these boats are really turned out well as you say.
