photoblog image Awaiting Departure

Awaiting Departure

Taken a few years ago at Carrog on the Llangollen Steam Railway I took this just before the train left for Llangollen.  Hopefully the sepia tone and the vignette make it seem like an older photo than it is.

This is a lovely railway running down the valley of the River Dee and more details can be found at http://llangollenrail.llangollen-railway.co.uk/

Brian Walbey: Thanks Vintage, it came out just as I wanted it to.
I've gone all weak at the knees Brian!
Brian Walbey: The last person to say that to me was a young lady many years ago Chris, but that wasn't to do with a photograph!
Works perfectly. (:o)
Brian Walbey: Thanks Rosalyn for your comment.
It looks very old, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chad, I tried, and it seems, succeeded in getting an old look to this.
and that near carriage is to die for ..wonderful Brian. richard
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, I remember going to work in carriages like that in the 1960's when I worked near Kings Cross, no toilets, you travelled with your legs crossed!
A wonderful timeless image Brian. Superb presentation!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, I hoped people would feel it looked old.

This looks so fabulous, long long ago I have been there, in 1980.....
Oh, I just love the trains, when I was a kid we always would be at a town Bergen in The Netherlands where the train named Bello was, it is in Dutch but you can see how beautiful the little locomotive is....I was 4 years old when I saw 'my friend' for the first time.

Brian Walbey: Astrid, you have made my day, not just because you like my picture but because your link showed me the most attractive little engine. Thanks very much.

You did indeed achieve the look you wanted, Brian! Well done.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, it seems to have been well received in the way I intended.

A lovely olde worlde feel to this, Brian. I've been past the line but never had the time to stop and ride and it.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. if you go that way again take a ride if time allows, you can see much more of the Dee valley from the train than from the A5.

This certainly does look old - you almost expect the Railway Children to come running down the platform!
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ingrid, it had that old world feel about the place even before my treatment of the picture.
