photoblog image Rhodadendron

Rhodadendron

A couple of Saturday's ago we went to Renishaw Hall near Sheffield for a tour round the house and gardens.  Unfortunately photography wasn't allowed in the house, (they have a guide book to sell), but the gardens are worth a few shots anyway.  But!!!!

Yes, it rained nearly all day but I still managed a lot of shots and this is taken among the beautiful display of Rhodadendrons, and yes it was raining at the time.

There will be a bit of  "welcome/unwelcome"  surprise on Friday so look in then.

Very nice composition Brian. I like the depth in this image!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, fortunately this one was near the edge of the tree so there was plenty of the tree behind the flower.

These colours were made for eachother. Good detail.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Ingrid, these are such lovely shrubs when they are out.
A beautiful composition, and such wondeful, vivid colours
Brian Walbey: Thanks Paul, it was handy to pick out just this one flower and the small bud in the background to balance it off.
We went to Hidcote and Snowshill today and the sun shone. But this shows you don't have to have the sun
Brian Walbey: I think I was a bit lucky here Bill, and I will admit to "twidling" a bit with the Burn tool on the flower.

When hasn't it rained lately? sad

I actually think that if it's cloudy the light enhances the colour of flowers like this.

I like the composition, and I like the bud in the background, but I wonder what it would look like without it. Not a criticism though.
Brian Walbey: I thought about the bud Ellie and then felt it gave a bit of balance to the picture so I left it in rather than have an almost empty area.

Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Tim, I'm glad you like it.
